Goyang Chinese restaurant, light family dinner: rice noodle jjamppong
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점) is a Chinese restaurant specializing in jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) on the Seooreung food street in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a late lunch, the family kept dinner light with rice noodle jjamppong (original flavor), plus jjamjjamyeon (half jjamppong, half black bean noodles) at spice level 1 and a small glutinous rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork). Verdict: the rice noodle jjamppong at Jjamppong Jijeon has a cleaner, more refreshing broth than regular jjamppong, a good pick on days you want a bowl that is easier on the stomach.

On days when I crave spicy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth with crispy tangsuyuk (Korean sweet and sour pork), I head to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점), a great family dining spot near Seooreung. You can adjust the spice level, the portions are generous, and we had a really good dinner.
Where is Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, and is there parking?

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is at 424 Seooreung-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi. It is open daily 07:00–22:00, with last order at 21:30. It sits on the Seooreung food street and is a popular Chinese restaurant known for good jjamppong.
If you search for 'Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch' (짬뽕지존 서오릉점) on Naver, you can get a Pororo drink coupon, a 10% military discount coupon, and a mandu (dumpling) coupon for orders over ₩50,000.

There is plenty of parking, so it's easy to come by car with the family, and we go often. If you come by public transport, take bus 702A or 9701 to the Yongdu 2-ri stop, then walk about 5 minutes toward Seooreung.
Jjamppong Jijeon's dining room and free self-serve bar

The tables are spaced widely and the restaurant is kept clean, so it's comfortable even for eating alone, and it would work well for a family meal or a group dinner too. It was crowded that day, so I couldn't take many photos.

The best thing here is the amazing self-serve bar. You can help yourself to basics like pickled radish, zha cai (pickled mustard stem), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), cheongyang chilies and bean sprouts. Rice is free too, so it's perfect for a day when you want to drop rice into your jjamppong broth. There are hair ties to tie your hair back before you dig in, and you can grab an apron too.

There are baby chairs, and after the meal there's a good variety of coffee, plum tea, pomegranate juice and more, so it's a place I'm very happy with!
What we ordered for a light family dinner

This time at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch we ordered a small glutinous rice tangsuyuk, a rice noodle jjamppong (original flavor) and a jjamjjamyeon (level 1).

After a short wait, the dishes arrived. How spicy would level-1 jjamppong be? And how would the rice noodle jjamppong taste? Let's dig in.
How spicy is level-1 jjamjjamyeon?

Level-1 jjamppong here was spicy enough to be enjoyable even for my husband, who doesn't really like spicy food: pleasantly hot and tasty. Jjamjjamyeon (half jjamppong, half jjajangmyeon, black bean noodles) is perfect when you can't decide between the two! The jjajangmyeon was packed with meat, potato and other ingredients, and I enjoyed it even more than on our last visit.

How is rice noodle jjamppong different from regular jjamppong?
The rice noodle jjamppong here was better than I expected!! We'd had a late lunch that day, so I wanted a lighter jjamppong. Rice noodles seemed easier to digest than wheat noodles, so I tried it.

As always, the jjamppong here is loaded with ingredients. Mussels, scallops, squid and vegetables all come in generous heaps. Maybe because it's the rice noodle version, the broth tasted clean and refreshing compared with regular jjamppong.

There were plenty of rice noodles too! The texture was soft and they slurped down easily. It was lighter on the stomach, yet the noodles soaked up the broth, so you still get the spicy kick. I brought a little rice from the self-serve bar and put it in the broth, and I was so satisfied. Delicious!

Small glutinous rice tangsuyuk: portion size and taste
Even the small size of the glutinous rice tangsuyuk is generous, and it's something we order every time. The tangsuyuk here is seriously delicious. It's crispy fried, and comes with sweet sauce, fresh onion and sweet potato fries, which makes it a treat.
There's no gamey smell at all, and the meat inside is soft and tender, with nothing dry or tough. If you want chewy, crispy tangsuyuk, definitely order it. Dipping it in a mix of soy sauce, chili flakes and vinegar brings out a sweet, salty and tangy flavor that's just right.

Many celebrities have visited Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch!! It's a place I visit regularly whenever jjamppong cravings hit.

Free after-meal drinks and our verdict on Jjamppong Jijeon
To finish at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, a cup of Osulloc tea, omija (schisandra berry) or plum juice cleanses the palate and helps digestion, a lovely ending! If you want tasty jjamppong and tangsuyuk, a clean restaurant and friendly service, I recommend Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch.
