In short
Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch (해물점 당진CGV점) is a retro pojangmacha-style (Korean street tent bar) seafood pub near the CGV cinema in Dangjin, Chungnam. This is a visit to Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch (해물점 당진CGV점), a seafood bar near the CGV in Dangjin. I'll walk you through the retro pojangmacha (Korean street-tent-style pub) vibe and the Sea Platter: abalone sashimi, sea squirt, sea cucumber, boiled octopus, and goose barnacles, which I tried for the first time.

I stopped by Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch, a seafood bar near the Dangjin CGV with a real pojangmacha feel.

With its orange tent, round tables and soft lighting, the place has a retro pojangmacha mood. You get to enjoy seafood in a setting that feels a little different from an ordinary restaurant.

Let me introduce the atmosphere along with the menu I ordered, the Haemuljeom Sea Platter.

What's the atmosphere like at Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch?
The orange tent and the round stainless steel tables, so typical of a pojangmacha, catch your eye right away. The slightly dim, warm lighting adds even more of that classic pojangmacha mood.

It suited a drink with friends or a relaxed, easygoing chat.

The interior has a retro charm, so it's worth keeping in mind when you want a bar with a different feel from the usual.

What seafood comes in the Haemuljeom Sea Platter?
The Sea Platter (바다한상) lets you taste several kinds of seafood on one table: abalone sashimi, scallop, sea squirt, sea cucumber, boiled octopus, goose barnacles and more. This was the menu I chose at Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch.

Abalone sashimi, scallop, sea squirt, sea cucumber, boiled octopus and goose barnacles all arrived together on one table.

The abalone sashimi is crunchy with a subtly soft bite.

The scallop is tender yet chewy. The sea squirt (meongge) is a salty seafood with that distinct scent of the sea.

The sea cucumber and tot (a type of seaweed) have a springy, crunchy texture.

Boiled octopus is part of the platter too.

I got to taste many kinds of seafood in one sitting.

The seafood was served fresh.

The exact makeup of the Sea Platter can vary with the season and supply.

Goose barnacles, which I'd only seen on TV, finally tried them!
The seafood that caught my eye most in the Sea Platter was the goose barnacle (geobuksom). I'd never had it before this.
It often shows up on TV variety shows set by the sea, and this was my first time eating something I'd only ever seen on screen.
From the name to the look, it's so unusual that it made me far more curious than the other seafood. Tasting something I'd seen on TV was a fun new experience, and it stuck with me because it's a seafood I rarely come across.
Sauces and sides that come with the Sea Platter
At Haemuljeom Dangjin CGV Branch, the seafood comes with a sesame-oil dip, gochujang vinegar sauce (choganjang-style red pepper sauce) and a soy seasoning sauce, so you can dip to your taste. White kimchi, pickled scallions (rakkyo), chili peppers and garlic were also set out.
You can pick whichever sauce suits each kind of seafood.

A yam (ma) drink was also served before the meal, so you can sip it before really starting to eat.
