Taejeon-dong pork belly BBQ for two at ₩41,500: Sangnok Hoegwan

Sangnok Hoegwan Yeontan-gui Taejeon Branch (상록회관 연탄구이 태전점) is a briquette-grilled Korean BBQ restaurant on Hoean-daero in Taejeon-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi. On an early Sunday evening, two adults had 1 geun (600g) of pork, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and rice for ₩41,500, and were happy with the splatter-free briquette pork belly, the lettuce and perilla leaf salad and the free slush. For good-value pork belly in Taejeon-dong, Sangnok Hoegwan Taejeon Branch is well worth recommending.

Wonju Korean BBQ, 180 seats and a Friday-night wait: Hanmaeum

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Enterprise City Branch is an aged-meat butcher-shop Korean BBQ restaurant in Wonju Enterprise City, Jijeong-myeon, Wonju, with about 100 pyeong of floor space and 180 seats. On a Friday at around 6:30 pm, the writer had the aged half pig (500g, ₩42,900) with steamed rice, plus the complimentary doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), a generous spread of banchan (side dishes), the kids' playroom, the self-serve bar and yogurt-flavored soft-serve ice cream. By around 7:30 pm on a Friday, 3–4 groups were waiting, so booking Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang through Naver before you go is the smart move.

Shin Ramyun-level monkfish jjim set in Gwangju: Badaga Nae Sonagwi

Badaga Nae Sonagwi Gyeonggi Gwangju is a monkfish jjim (spicy braised monkfish) restaurant on Suha-gil in Songjeong-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi. Two adults ordered the small Set A Daehwanjang Monkfish Set for ₩39,000 at spice level 1 and got monkfish jjim, boneless monkfish soup, blanched squid (ojingeo sukhoe) and steamed egg, with level 1 about as hot as Shin Ramyun. The small Daehwanjang Monkfish Set at Badaga Nae Sonagwi was generous enough to fill two adults without any rice.

Watermelon snowflake bingsu and bus parking at Gonjiam café La Cuesta

La Cuesta Gwangju is a two-story bakery café in Gonjiam, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, near Hwadam Botanic Garden. On a Sunday at 4pm, two visitors shared the watermelon snowflake bingsu at 17,000 won, a La Cuesta latte at 7,800 won and a cod roe baguette at 4,500 won, and the free lot holds 100 cars and even large buses, so groups and families park easily. La Cuesta Gwangju is an easy place to linger for around 20,000 to 30,000 won for two.
