Alphadom Tower tonkatsu in Pangyo, sibling set for two: Katsu Shokudo

It had been a while since I hung out with my sister, so we headed to a place known for crispy, juicy premium tonkatsu — I was excited the whole way there.

A well-known tonkatsu spot in Pangyo, Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch. Here's my honest review of a generous, well-put-together meal!

Where is Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, and is there parking?

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch is at 152 Pangyoyeok-ro, B1 Unit 9, Alphadom Tower 3, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. It's right in front of Pangyo Station, so I highly recommend coming by subway.

There are also plenty of department stores and shopping areas nearby, so it's easy to build a date or shopping route around a meal here.

Parking is free for 1 hour. The area around Pangyo Station has plenty of parking spaces everywhere, so you can drive over and eat comfortably without worrying about it.

The storefront and six straight Blue Ribbon years

The storefront of Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch has a clean yet cozy atmosphere, that particular warmth of a Japanese restaurant.

There are a lot of Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon marks here — and it's held the Blue Ribbon for 6 consecutive years, so I was already excited about the taste before even walking in.

There's also a menu board set up at the entrance, so you can check the menu while waiting or just passing by before deciding to go in.

Inside seating at Katsu Shokudo, solo diners included

Stepping inside, you find a cozy, hygienically kept hall.

There are 2-seat and 4-seat tables, plus bar seats where you can comfortably eat alone.

It's a relaxed atmosphere that works both for a comfortable solo meal and for a office lunch or date course.

Menu and the 35,000-won set for two

Katsu Shokudo serves a variety of Japanese dishes — crispy-outside, juicy-inside tonkatsu, plus soba, udon, curry, and more. You can order à la carte, or go for the well-packed set menus that let you try multiple dishes at once — the range of choices was really wide!

My sister and I went with the signature menu that lets you enjoy the bestsellers all at once.

How the loin katsu tastes: thick cut and juicy

Taste Review

The loin katsu was really thick. The meat was very fresh and packed with juice, so it tasted great.

The batter was super crispy and savory, and the balance of fat and lean meat gave it that crispy-outside, juicy-inside quality that made it really delicious.

With every bite, a clean juiciness and meaty aroma spread through — definitely living up to its reputation as one of Pangyo's best tonkatsu spots.

How the fillet katsu tastes: both sisters' pick

The fillet katsu has a slightly rounder look than the loin katsu, and it was softer too.

The meat wasn't dry at all — it was so tender it practically melted away without much chewing, an addictive kind of flavor. Both my brother and I agreed this fillet katsu was the tastier one.

Were the mini soba and mini udon worth it?

The cool, savory mini soba and the warm, deep-broth mini udon weren't anything especially special. But they paired perfectly as sides to the very tasty tonkatsu.

It's not a wildly special curry, but with unlimited refills of sauce and rice, it's the kind of tasty curry you're happy to keep eating.

Final verdict on Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch showed off a great balance between thick meat, crispy batter, and the sides — soba, udon, and curry — all working together well.
