Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is a milmyeon and pork soup restaurant close to Busan Station, a great place to grab a meal before a train or right after arriving in Busan. I was looking for somewhere to eat near the station, and since milmyeon is the first thing I think of with Busan, I walked in without a second thought ^^ 🍜🍚

Atmosphere and waiting

The inside of Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap was bigger and tidier than I expected. Plenty of people were eating alone, and I saw lots of travelers and families too. Maybe because it's near Busan Station, tables turn over fast, so I got to eat right away without a long wait.

How does the mul milmyeon taste? Try adding a little mustard

The mul milmyeon at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap has a clean, refreshing broth with ice crystals floating on top, and I recommend adding just a little mustard. It's a must-eat when you come to Busan, so I started with it, and it looked cool just to look at! ❄️

One bite and the broth was really clean and cold. It's not too strong, but light and savory, the kind you keep slurping. The noodles were chewy with a great texture and went really well with the broth. Adding vinegar and mustard to taste gave it another charm. Personally, I recommend a little mustard!

My verdict on the milmyeon at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap

Overall, milmyeon and dumplings together made a really well-matched meal at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap. When you crave something cool and clean in hot weather, nothing is as easy to eat as milmyeon.

The cold broth with chewy noodles woke up my appetite from the very first bite, and the seasoning wasn't overly strong, so I never got tired of it until the end.

With milmyeon, the noodle texture matters too, and these didn't go mushy; they were pleasantly chewy. The broth and seasoning balanced well: I started plain and light, then mixed in the sauce here and there, and it tasted different again. I also liked that adding a little vinegar or mustard to taste brings out more flavor, so you can enjoy it in different ways.

The dumplings we ordered went really well with the milmyeon too. Milmyeon alone might feel a bit light, but the dumplings made it more filling, and alternating warm dumplings with cold noodles felt like each balanced the other. The filling wasn't heavy or greasy but light, so it was good with milmyeon.
