Hi, this is Dayoi! Today I'm reviewing Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch, a spot I recommend near Konkuk University and Sejong University. The menu is really varied, and they had a lot of dishes — yukhoe (raw seasoned beef), yuksashimi, salmon — that only taste good when they're fresh :)

How to get to Yukhoe Gongjakso from Children's Grand Park Station, plus parking

Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Children's Grand Park Station according to Naver Maps, and honestly you could probably make it in 3 if you walk fast! It's convenient by public transit, and parking is available too!!

You can park for free at the public lot near Hwayang Police Substation, and if there's no space, paid parking is available at Dongdo Centreville :) (₩3,000/hour). Not many bars these days offer parking, so that's a real plus for Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch.

There's also a big menu board out front, so you can check the menu as you walk by before deciding to go in!! They have yukhoe, salmon, and even beef yakiniku haha. Great for anyone who loves beef.

I'd made a reservation ahead, so I was seated right away! They gave us water that seemed to be heotgae tea (a Korean hangover-relief tea) rather than plain water! Somehow being handed heotgae tea makes you feel like it's okay to drink a bit more.

What we ordered at Yukhoe Gongjakso and what it cost

Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch has such a diverse menu!! Here's what I ordered :)

• Mungtigi salmon sashimi: ₩33,900
• Beef tataki: ₩19,900
• Fire chicken sauce yukhoe: ₩9,900
• Beef ramen: ₩8,900

I paired it with draft beer and Byeolbit Cheonha. They have a wide range of drinks too, and instead of just serving yukhoe as one single dish, they offer it prepared in several different styles, so you get more choices. And honestly, the prices are so good!! It's a perfect fit for college students.

Beef egg soup with free refills

The beef egg soup that came out after ordering! At first I thought it was just plain egg soup, but there was actually beef in it!! And since it's based on a bone broth, it had a deeper flavor. If you added rice cake to this, it'd basically be tteokguk (New Year's rice cake soup)!!

Apparently this beef egg soup comes with free refills 🤍 Even if you just order yukhoe on its own, having a soupy side dish available is really appealing.

Mungtigi salmon sashimi, ₩33,900, served with five sauces

First up, the mungtigi salmon sashimi I ordered! It's not easy to find mungtigi (rough-cut raw beef) in Seoul, but here I could enjoy it at such a reasonable price.

And the quality of the salmon sashimi was great! Really soft. The mungtigi wasn't too chewy either, and had no odor, making it perfect as a drinking snack.

They give you as many as five different sauces, so you can eat it however suits your taste. Having so many sauces means each bite kind of feels like a different dish — a nice touch of thoughtfulness!

Beef tataki with fresh wasabi and salad

Next came the beef tataki! This one tasted good with any of the sauces from before too, but the combination with the fresh wasabi and salad served alongside was the best. The dishes above are all delicious, but eating a lot of similar things can get a little repetitive, right?

Buldak sauce yukhoe at ₩9,900: how big is the portion?

Right around then I was craving something spicy, and lo and behold, they had fire chicken sauce yukhoe..!! And it was only ₩9,900?! I ordered it right away.

I figured that since it was so cheap, the portion would be tiny, but it turned out to be a decent amount!! Honestly a beacon of hope for college students,, it's not easy for students to afford yukhoe normally. But Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch is a budget-friendly bar where you can enjoy it without guilt.

They said they use the seoldosal/udunsal cuts from pre-dawn-butchered clean Australian beef. It's even flown in same-day and cut to order the moment it's ordered..!! I could tell it was fresh, and that's only possible because they pay this much attention to detail.

When you first bite into the fire chicken sauce yukhoe, you think, huh, this isn't that spicy? But then the heat kicks in right after, which was perfect for cutting through any richness. Since I love sauces, I enjoyed it even more with Yukhoe Gongjakso's own signature sesame sauce.

Ending the night with beef ramen, ₩8,900

For the final dish, I ordered beef ramen! There was quite a lot of beef in this too. With such generous portions, I really felt like I ate my fill of beef that day,,

The beef ramen broth had a beef-soup kind of flavor to it too — it didn't seem like they just tossed some beef in, but rather made the broth itself with a beef base. It wasn't too spicy, just the right level, a flavor anyone could enjoy! If you're drinking and craving a spicy red broth but don't want to commit to a full main dish, ordering the beef ramen would be a great move — just like I did.

Partitioned booths, the atmosphere and the half-price sake deal

The tables are all partitioned booth seats, so it's a great place to eat privately! And the overall atmosphere has a Japanese feel to it, so you get a little bonus sense of being on a trip!

Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch has such good prices. It's not far from Konkuk University or Sejong University either, so I think it's a place students can come and eat comfortably!! You come to drink, but you leave feeling as satisfied as if you'd had a full meal 🤍
