Where is Uu? A 5-minute walk from Exit 2, Konkuk University Station

Uu is a solo-drinking bar just 280m, a 5-minute walk, from Exit 2 of Konkuk University Station. Solo-drinking bars are having a moment right now, aren't they? I went to check out Uu, a Konkuk bar that's fun whether you're flying solo or rolling with a group. Access was really easy too.

Head up to the 3rd floor and you're right there at Uu.

Inside Uu: an 8pm opening and a chatty owner

Uu opens at 8pm and I timed my arrival right at opening, but a few people were already drinking away. The owner was drinking along with everyone too — super friendly, and the whole vibe made it easy for anyone to have a good time.

There was a corner with chargers set up, and even blankets.

There was also a good variety of board games, so it looked like a great spot to play together with a group.

They were running a receipt-review event where writing a review gets you a free cheese cracker or a cocktail, so it's worth joining in on that too!

There were also house rules for Uu posted up, so I gave them a read.

20% off the drink of the day at Uu

Uu sells a rotating "today's drink" at 20% off, and on the day I visited, the three on offer were negroni, Malibu milk, and Baileys milk.

There was a claw machine running too, so that could be fun to try alongside the drinks!

Uu's menu board and how QR ordering works

Here's Uu's menu board. There was a wide range — single malt, blended whisky, wine, champagne, signature cocktails, basics, non-alcoholic drinks, beer, and snacks — and you can bring in outside food or delivery, which they'll even clear away for you afterward! A place where both the drinks and the snacks were genuinely good.

To order, you check in via the QR code at your table and place your order from there, and apparently you can even request table rotations or take on quests.

Puffed corn starter and the free black truffle jamón cracker

Uu's basic anju (snack that comes with drinks) is popcorn,

and we got a black truffle jamón cracker on the house!

How do Uu's signature cocktails hh, Uu and Gachi Han Jan taste?

hh, 16,000 won: the 35% ABV signature

hh was sweet up front with the alcohol coming through after — a strong 35% ABV drink. It wasn't just strong for the sake of it, though; the flavor was genuinely good.

Uu came through with cherry, peach and cranberry flavors all at once, so the fruit flavor was great and it wasn't too strong, making it a cocktail that went down easily.

Gachi Han Jan peach, 16,000 won: the cocktail to share

I ordered the peach version of Gachi Han Jan (literally "one glass together"), and it was a great drink for sharing among a group.

Pinape, 12,000 won: a pizza-style canapé to snack on

What's a pinape? I ordered it out of curiosity and it turned out to be a pizza-style version of a canapé! The cracker was tasty, but it really did eat like pizza, making it a great easy snack to munch on.
