Why did I get a brow consultation at Minjei Makeup near Gangnam Station?

Grooming my own brows is so hard that I was thinking I should just get them waxed... but then I thought, shouldn't I be able to groom them myself? So I visited Minjei Makeup Eyebrow Grooming, Gangnam Seocho Branch (민제이메이크업 눈썹정리 강남서초점) for a Gangnam brow consultation and grooming!

When I read blog reviews, I always, always look at the before and after, you know? So I'm putting the photo right at the top!

How were the shaggy, uneven brows groomed?

At Minjei Makeup, my left and right brows, which are shaped differently, were cut differently. They groomed the top of the left one and the bottom of the right one, and trimmed the brow fronts round to match my nose bridge.

Both of my brows are a total mess (sob)... The front needs trimming too, and because the two sides are asymmetrical, they're tricky to groom. My left brow has a slight V-shaped gap at the front, and the arch sits high (so the top got tidied up). The right one, on the other hand, slopes downward, so the bottom had to be trimmed.

They also thinned out the brow hair with steel scissors, and told me not to cut right up against the brow or I'd end up with bald patches, so leave a little gap! (Pro tip!)

The brow fronts were trimmed round to match the nose bridge. The right side had more hair at the front, so that got trimmed, and the left was complicated, so I remember they went over it several times... (I marked it up: red is what was cut, and blue is what I remember being tidied!)

When cutting the bottom, you just close your eyes and let them trim. Honestly, though, if that feels like too much work, your brows grow back every 2 months, so getting it done each time is an option too!

How did the finished brows look?

In the finished result, the brow fronts were slightly rounder and the stray hairs around them were neatly cleared, so the tails look sharper. The asymmetrical feel mostly disappeared, which was amazing to see!

For the brow makeup, they filled the front with light brown and blended it, filled the empty middle with medium brown, and drew the tail sharp! Then they lightly brushed on brow mascara, which brightened the tone and made it look more natural and pretty!

Brows grow back in about 2 months, so if you can't groom them yourself, getting brow care every 2 months seems like a good idea!

Where is Minjei Makeup Gangnam Seocho Branch, and how is parking?

Minjei Makeup Eyebrow Grooming, Gangnam Seocho Branch is on the first basement floor of a building near Gangnam Station. I heard parking is free for 70 minutes at Acrotel Gangnam Station.

If you walk, just head straight down to the first basement floor. I visited with a Naver reservation! Lots of people seemed to have booked, so it looks like a popular place.

Once you go down to the first basement floor, you'll see the Minjei Makeup sign and banner, so you can find it right away. At first I actually walked past, because I also saw Gangnam Unni (a beauty app) signage and figured this couldn't be the place.

What's the atmosphere inside?

Further inside Minjei Makeup, I could see certificates, medals and lots of brow knives! I heard the owner is an 18-year veteran makeup artist, and I thought, wow, she's really skilled.

You wait for a bit on the sofa inside. I arrived about 10 minutes early and had a look around.

How much is brow grooming at Minjei Makeup in Gangnam?

Looking at the price list at Minjei Makeup Gangnam Seocho Branch, brow grooming alone is ₩30,000! You get a brow consultation, then they shape the brows neatly with a brow knife and scissors.

I learned a lot about my own brow shape, and I was very happy that it doesn't hurt like waxing and there's no risk of side effects like folliculitis... I also got brow makeup and a lesson, and since I don't know much about makeup, they taught me tips for lightly filling in the brow tail and front.

Photos and video aren't allowed during the treatment, so I'm substituting videos of the shop.

How long does the ₩60,000 course take?

I did the ₩60,000 course, which covers brow grooming, brow makeup and a detailed consultation, and it took about 1 hour. The makeup artist kept chatting with me the whole hour, so I never got bored. And while we talked, I thought she seemed like a T (thinking type), but she said she's an F (feeling type) (surprising!)

Was I happy with the brow consultation?

This is me after the brow consultation and grooming. I really loved how it turned out. So pretty, haha! I started out with shaggy brows... and next time, if I still can't groom them myself, going back to Minjei Makeup seems like a fine idea :)
