Cheonan jjamppong restaurant for two kids: kids' jjajang at Bultina
In short
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is a cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on Seobu-daero in Sinbang-dong, Cheonan. On a visit with two young elementary schoolers, the family ordered two servings of cockle jjamppong at spice level 1 (22,000 won), two kids' jjajang (8,000 won) and a small sweet-and-sour pork (17,000 won), so everyone had their own bowl. A kids' menu, wide sofa seating and 300 ground and underground parking spaces made Bultina an easy choice for eating out with children.

Cockle jjamppong packed with chewy cockles and that deep smoky wok flavor, with adjustable spice in a rich broth — I loved it. And Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, the go-to jjamppong spot in Sinbang-dong, has a kids' menu too, so we could all get our own bowl for a family meal. Jjajang, jjamppong, sweet-sour pork — nothing missed. So good 🤤

This cockle jjamppong specialist is a real Sinbang-dong jjamppong destination! It's easy to reach, right by the Ssangyong overpass near the Ssangyong-dong E-mart. Fresh, chewy cockles and shellfish packed in, blending perfectly with the noodles — fantastic texture 🩵

There's plenty of parking, both above and below ground, so you don't have to hunt for a spot!

Sofa tables for kids and the dining room at Bultina
The dining room at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is wide and comfortable, easily fitting groups. Visiting for a family meal, I grabbed a wide sofa table — for the kids, of course haha. They're at the age where they appreciate a backrest cushion (?). The tables are spaced generously, so we could eat comfortably.

☑️ Self-serve corner — pickled radish, onion, kimchi, and chunjang (black bean sauce paste), all the classic Chinese-restaurant side dishes.

Menu and prices: can elementary schoolers order the kids' jjajang?
True to its name, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong serves cockle jjamppong, cockle jjamppong rice, jjajangmyeon, kids' jjajang, and sweet-sour pork, with spice adjustable from level 1 to 4 — great to have that option. Our table ordered two servings of cockle jjamppong for ₩22,000, two kids' jjajang for ₩8,000, and one small sweet-sour pork for ₩17,000.
Since the kids were bound to steal bites from my bowl anyway, I ordered mine at spice level 1. My kids, both in the early years of elementary school, got the kids' jjajang. The menu said it was meant for preschoolers, but when I asked, the staff said it was fine — thank you (🙌🏻). It's great that this Sinbang-dong jjamppong favorite has a kids' menu at all!

They're also running a receipt review event — write a review and get 4 fried dumplings or a drink, your choice. I also read through their little explainer about the cockle jjamppong: they use only same-day delivered fresh ingredients, prepared and consumed the same day.
Every table had vinegar, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes. Splash vinegar over the onion and pickled radish, sprinkle red pepper flakes into the soy sauce, and you've got the seasoned dipping sauce for the sweet-sour pork! 😋

Before long, the jjamppong, jjajang, and sweet-sour pork all arrived. The mouthwatering, generous presentation had me swallowing hard. With sweet-sour pork ordered on top of one bowl each, the table was completely full.

Level 1 cockle jjamppong: could the kids eat it?
I ordered the cockle jjamppong at spice level 1, but my spice-brave kids said "Mom, let me try some too!" and ended up eating a fair amount. Thanks to them, my bowl of noodles was down to just a few bites left 🫠
The presentation of the cockle jjamppong was amazing! Even from the outside, it was loaded with cockles and all kinds of toppings, a generously full bowl. The smoky wok-fired broth looked deep and rich just by looking at it. And the noodles — so chewy and springy. The rich, smoky broth soaked perfectly into the noodles, so good. The noodles stayed firm to the very last bite. 😢 I regret not ordering the large size.

Fresh cockles, clams, and other shellfish along with meat, wood ear mushrooms, and all kinds of vegetables filled the bowl (a jjamppong loaded with toppings is basically love... haha). It's a meat-based broth, but it's clean, not heavy or thick. The meat, seafood, and vegetables all release their flavor into a deep, rich broth. I'm someone who thinks jjamppong without smoky wok flavor is basically dead, but this had that smoky depth too, doubling the savory taste — so good. Next time, I'm trying level 2! Bump up the spice level and this is total hangover-cure territory. Jjamppong is a must for a hangover!! 🍜
Kids' jjajang at Bultina: portion size and taste
I expected the kids' jjajang to be a small portion, but the kids' bowl came generously filled with noodles and sauce! The jjajang wasn't watery — it was thick and rich, loaded with vegetables and meat.
My daughter enthusiastically stirring her jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), insisting she was mixing it herself lol

With a mild chunjang flavor, subtle smokiness, and a hint of sweetness, this is yuni-jjajang style — the kind both kids and adults love! Loaded with vegetables and meat, blending beautifully with the noodles, and the noodles stayed perfectly firm without going mushy. The kids really enjoyed it 😋

Small sweet-and-sour pork and the review-event fried dumplings
The small sweet-sour pork at ₩17,000 came out freshly fried, warm, with that perfect crispy-outside-juicy-inside texture. Jjamppong and jjajang absolutely need sweet-sour pork alongside!! The jjamppong and jjajang were delicious, but the sweet-sour pork was seriously delicious too.

Loaded with vegetables in the sauce — sweet-sour pork is always better dipped, not drenched! The meat stays crispy on the outside and juicy inside, light and clean, and the tangy-sweet sauce is the real kicker 🫢

I was happy to get crispy fried dumplings through the review event. Fried dumplings are always delicious, no matter when... fried dumplings really are the answer to everything ✨

Is Bultina worth it for a family meal in Cheonan?
We wiped the plates completely clean hahaha — basically did the dishes ourselves (?). With a menu adults and kids can both enjoy, plus a proper kids' menu, this was a great spot for a hearty family meal with one bowl each! The smoky cockle jjamppong, the jjajangmyeon loaded with vegetables and meat, and the crispy-outside-juicy-inside sweet-sour pork — the kids ate it all up happily too. Definitely coming back for another family meal here 🤤
