Getting to Sanggu's Guui Branch and parking

Sanggu's Guui Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Guui Station. It's also close to Gangbyeon Station, so it's worth a look if you're searching for restaurants near Gangbyeon or the Dongseoul Bus Terminal. There's parking in front and behind, too!

How long is the wait at Sanggu's?
It was busy when we visited, so we waited outside for about 10 minutes before going in. There are chairs outside to sit on, so the wait was comfortable!

Inside, the place is fairly spacious and felt well ventilated. With so many customers, it looks like a popular spot for company dinners and family meals too.
What's in the Premium Half-Plate Set for two

We came as a pair and ordered Sanggu's Premium Half-Plate Set. You can choose between minari (water dropwort) and siraegi (dried radish greens), and between raw pork belly and naengsam (thin-sliced frozen pork belly). Raw pork neck is included as standard! We went with minari and raw pork belly.

You can also choose 2 draft beers, 2 soft drinks or fried rice, and we picked the 2 draft beers. We ordered another bottle on top of that, too.

Both the pork belly and the pork neck were thick. The restaurant says it uses domestic 1+ grade female pork, so I had good expectations for the meat quality as well.

Draft beer 1,900 won, soju and bottled beer 2,900 won
Before the meat was cooked, I took a sip of draft beer first, and wow, it was so cold and easy to drink. At Sanggu's, small draft beer is ₩1,900 and soju and bottled beer are ₩2,900, so the drinks are easy on the budget!
Kimchi, bean sprouts and minari grilled on the cauldron lid

Just like the name says, you get a huge cauldron-lid grill. It comes topped with kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken as standard.

And the minari we picked!!! It goes so well with the meat.

Grilling the thick meat and eating it with minari, bean sprouts and the rest gave us lots of different combinations.
Do the staff grill the meat for you?
Yes, at Sanggu's an experienced staff member grills the meat for you, which was convenient.

They cut it into bite-size pieces. Not having to keep worrying about it burning made it easy to chat with my friend while we ate.
Free wrap greens and side dishes at the self-bar

One side of Sanggu's self-bar had lettuce and several other wrap greens, plus garlic, angelica leaves, sweet pumpkin, mushrooms, bracken and more.

At the front were kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled onions and other things that go well with the meat.

I brought back garlic scapes, sweet pumpkin, angelica leaves, napa cabbage and other veggies I like. Since you can take as much as you need, I think it suits people who eat lots of wrap greens especially well.

The vegetables were fairly fresh too, so we could enjoy them generously with the meat.
Why Sanggu's stuck with me as a Guui Station Korean BBQ spot
Having visited, I found that Sanggu's thick pork belly and pork neck tasted even better grilled on the cauldron lid, and I liked getting minari, kimchi, bean sprouts and other extras with it.

Above all, it was convenient that the staff grilled the meat, and the self-bar and the low drink prices were pluses too. The one drawback: when it's busy you may have to wait, so it's best to allow some time. (This was a meal provided by the restaurant in exchange for a review.)

It's a good place to stop by if you're looking for a pork belly restaurant near Guui or Gangbyeon Station, or want a cold beer with meat after work. If you're searching for a spot for a group dinner or a family meal, this Guui restaurant is worth a look too!
