People & Peoples is a pub in Bucheon’s Sang-dong food alley, with outdoor seating and spacious indoor tables. I had spicy bulgogi pastry pizza with beer and an apple highball indoors; the pizza took a while, but I liked its crisp, nutty crust and sweet-spicy sauce.
Hanamato Daehangno Hyehwa is an izakaya near Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul. I had mentaiko mayo chicken-thigh skewers, chicken-thigh skewers, five kinds of oden, karaage-style fried octopus, and Sapporo draft beer; the smoky, moist skewers and spicy-clear oden broth stood out. My end seat was quiet enough for an easy conversation.

Kaken is an izakaya between exits 2 and 3 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. After a Han River walk, my husband and I had assorted sashimi, motsunabe, draft beer, and a yuzu highball; the sashimi was more generous than expected, and even I enjoyed the tender beef intestine hot pot.
