About

Onggijip began as a BBQ restaurant started by the owner's parents in Gangneung, and the second generation has run it since 2011, moving via Sinnonhyeon before settling in Sinsa-dong. At Onggijip, pre-grilled pork belly and pork neck go onto an onggi grill adapted from traditional Korean earthenware, and staff at every table grill the meat down to the last piece. Onggijip uses Korean grade 1+ pork, serves kimchi made with Korean ingredients in the Taebaek highlands of Gangwon-do, and offers 1++ Hanwoo sirloin and brisket for guests who do not eat pork.

The Onggijip dining room is one open space without partitions or overhead ducts above the tables, seating up to 52 people, and 7 tables join in a single row so 28 people can sit side by side. Onggijip serves traditional Korean liquor, wine and highballs, and staff can assist in English.
