In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a grilled fish restaurant by Baegun Lake in Uiwang, Gyeonggi. I enjoyed wood-fired grilled fish, braised fish, pot rice, and plentiful self-serve side dishes with my parents at lunch. Verdict: a filling family meal I’d gladly return for.

A hanok grilled fish restaurant after a Baegun Lake drive
I found this great place while driving around Baegun Lake!! Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch (화덕으로 간 고등어 백운호수점) is a hot new spot that already gets weekend waitlists even though it has not been open long 🔥 I visited for weekday lunch, and it was definitely less crowded than on weekends, with plenty of room in the parking lot.
The hanok-style building is especially lovely with the mountain behind it, while the inside is a complete contrast: modern, clean, and comfortable! Let me tell you about my satisfying meal at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch with my parents, haha.

- Daily 11:00–21:00 / last order 20:20
- Weekday break time 15:00–17:00 / no break time on Saturday and Sunday
- Deep inside Neungan Village by Baegun Lake, right next to Jeongwon Kalguksu

Keep heading inward along Neungan-gil and you will come to this Baegun Lake Branch, haha. When I went, soft sunlight was shining down, and the lush green mountain backdrop went so beautifully with the hanok. I loved how calming it felt, like I had traveled somewhere far away.

Spacious seating that is great with parents
You can tell they put a lot of thought into the interior even before walking in, haha. Since it is newly opened, the restaurant was clean and the tables were spacious, so we could eat comfortably.

There were all kinds of tables, from standard four-person tables to group seating, plus room-style seats that would be nice for a private group gathering. The large windows also made the space feel airy and comfortable—exactly the kind of atmosphere parents would love.

A generous self-serve bar with japchae and kimchi pancakes
The self-serve bar at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch~! You see it as soon as you enter. It is right in the center of the restaurant, so you can help yourself as much as you like.

Above all, the quality was so good hahaha. There were so many basic sides prepared, including fresh wrap vegetables, seasoned lotus root, cucumber peppers, and bean sprouts.

From the basic sides to kimchi pancakes, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), everything was generously stocked for you to enjoy. It was not just a long list of sides either; every dish looked carefully made and tasted clean and fresh. I always eat loads of japchae at Korean set-meal restaurants, and the japchae here was so delicious!! Haha, I lost count of how many times I went back for the kimchi pancakes and japchae, haha. That is how good they were 😊
A grilled fish table set after ordering by tablet
Have a look at the Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo menu!! You can conveniently order from the tablet at your table.

The grilled fish arrives together with the basic side dishes.

Once we added pot rice and the sides we brought from the self-serve bar, the table was completely full—it looked like the table legs might break, haha.

Crisp, tender wood-fired fish and spicy braised fish
First up, the wood-fired grilled fish with all its excess oil cooked away—seriously, the look of it alone was no joke. I am not the biggest fish lover, but I do eat fish when it is delicious, haha. And this had that unmistakably delicious golden-brown look!! Maybe because it was cooked in a wood-fired oven, but the aroma really came through.

With the oil cooked right out, it was crisp outside yet moist and tender inside, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching back for more. Every part was tender, with plenty of fish meat too.

We also ordered braised fish, and its sauce was absolutely amazing..😍 Grilled fish alone can leave you wanting something spicy, but this spicy braised fish filled that gap perfectly. Put the spicy, lightly sweet fish over white rice and mix it in—such a rice thief!! There was no fishy smell at all, and I loved the combination of radish and bracken fern, so I finished an entire bowl of rice in no time.
After finishing a whole bowl of rice, I wrapped things up properly with scorched-rice pot rice, hehe 🤩

Recommended for a family meal after a Baegun Lake walk
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a grilled fish meal spot where I ate so deliciously and got absolutely stuffed. It was a healthy, satisfying meal. Best of all, my parents really loved it, which made me even happier. I recommend it for a family gathering or a meal with your parents.
The parking lot is spacious and it is close to Baegun Lake, so stop by after a walk around the lake with your family 💛
