Late-night chicken stew and soju-beer at Yeonsan-dong bar: Yetnal

In short

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch is a fried chicken and chicken stew restaurant in Yeonje, Busan, open until 5–6am. The dakdoritang (spicy chicken stew) costs ₩24,000 and comes packed with long rice cakes, quail eggs and glass noodles, paired with somaek (soju-beer mix); the sauce wasn't too sweet, making it a perfect drinking snack. It's a great late-night pick in Yeonsan-dong for food and drinks together.

Today I went to a spot in Yeonsan-dong where you can eat both fried chicken and chicken stew ˚₊‧꒰ා ♡ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚

It's the kind of place you'd think of for crispy fried chicken with a somaek (soju-beer mix), but this time we ordered dakdoritang (spicy chicken stew) at this Yeonsan-dong favorite and had it with somaek 𐙚₊˚⊹ This place is a real gem~~~~~ They have multiple branches, so definitely check it out!!

My boyfriend told me this place is originally famous for its fried chicken! I was curious about the chicken too, but that day I was really craving dakdoritang, so I picked that ᰔᩚ 🍗 ˖ ࣪⊹

Interior of the old-style fried chicken shop with graffiti-covered walls

Old-school fried chicken shop vibe with graffiti-covered walls

The inside is charmingly nostalgic, with graffiti all over the walls like an old-school tteokbokki shop haha

True to its name, it has that old-fashioned fried chicken shop feel, which made it easy to walk in and relax.

Basic side dishes: cabbage salad with ketchup-mayo and shrimp chips

Like any chicken restaurant, they bring out cabbage topped with ketchup-mayo (my absolute favorite..❤️) and shrimp chips~

Chicken stew with soju-beer — how did it taste?

Out of all the menu options, we ordered the dakdoritang that day.

And when you slurp up the glass noodles soaked in that sauce

It's not too sweet at all, the sauce is just right, seriously

It's great as a drinking snack too, so having it with drinks was perfect. The chicken is also cut into pieces that are easy to eat.

Final thoughts

Since this is a well-known fried chicken spot in Busan, they also have yetnal tongdak and fried chicken on the menu, so I thought it'd be nice to try the chicken menu next time!! They even have a combo that pairs dakdoritang with yetnal tongdak, so for foodies who want to have it all, that menu might catch your eye.
