In short

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is a Chinese restaurant near E-Mart in Ssangyong-dong, Cheonan. We shared cockle jjamppong rice, jajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and fried dumplings with generous toppings and a great crunch. Verdict: a clean, roomy pick for family meals or group gatherings.

There are plenty of good cockle jjamppong places in Cheonan if you look, but this was one I personally enjoyed so much that I have to recommend it :-) I used to think Chinese restaurants were pretty much all the same, but the places with genuinely good quality really are delicious ♥ The menu and flavors stick faithfully to the basics, which is exactly my style too~~

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch: location and parking

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch (불티나꼬막짬뽕 신방점) is near the E-Mart in Ssangyong-dong! It is on the right, directly beside the overpass heading toward Sinbang-dong, haha. Just enter the side street at the Woori Bank corner :-) Parking is free for 2 hours, and there are about 300 above- and below-ground spaces behind the building ★ Corkage is not available, so outside alcohol is prohibited! Ilsong Building, 285 Seobu-daero, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. Hours are daily from 11:00 to 20:00, with last orders at 20:00; it is regularly closed every Monday. No pets allowed.

Table ordering and the menu

I only noticed it when leaving, but there are hair ties at the counter too? You can order straight from the table, then pay separately~~ One menu item per person is required ★ You can also choose from four spice levels :-) As you would expect from a great Cheonan cockle jjamppong spot, the main menu was simple, haha. There are four options—cockle jjamppong, cockle jjamppong rice, tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), and fried dumplings—and they also have children's jajang and extra steamed rice!

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch has high chairs too, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a family dining spot in Cheonan~ The seating is generally spacious, and spoons and chopsticks are set out at each table, so you can simply take what you need, haha. Write a Naver review and receive four fried dumplings or a soft drink! They say the true way to enjoy Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is to mix rice into the broth after eating the noodles, so definitely keep that in mind :-) Best of all, the noodles are made fresh to order, so there can be a wait ★

Spacious, clean seating and a self-service bar

At Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, a great cockle jjamppong spot in Cheonan, you can use aprons, and the restaurant is quite large. The chairs act as partitions, so tables here and there feel private, which I liked, haha. There is a self-service bar in the wall corner by the kitchen. Basic side dishes are provided, but it was nice to be able to grab more ourselves :-) There were three things ready: danmuji (yellow pickled radish), onion, and kimchi—plus extra onion, of course!

Chinese restaurants can often feel a little hectic, but Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch was clean overall, which I loved! The kitchen is screened off, but the interior is brightly lit, and there are tables right next to it too. If you want a more private seat, I think the tables farther inside would be a good choice :-) It did take a little while after ordering for the food to arrive, but everything came out together, so we could eat deliciously without waiting between dishes~

From jajangmyeon to cockle jjamppong rice

They brought side plates and scissors too, so it was great for sharing. The jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) was totally my style because the sauce was loaded with toppings, almost like ganjajang >.< The noodles were thin rather than thick too, haha. Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, a great Cheonan cockle jjamppong restaurant, does not reuse ingredients: it uses ingredients delivered that day and follows a same-day-use policy ★ So, if prepared ingredients run out, service may end early!

The jajangmyeon was really delicious too, but the jjamppong with cockles had a seriously generous amount of other toppings as well! More precisely, we ordered jjamppong rice, so rice came separately, but because it comes with noodles as standard, the portion is very filling :-) I am weak with spicy food, so I ordered the basic level 1. If I had eaten just one jjamppong on its own, it might have been a little hard for me, haha, but eaten with jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, it balanced out nicely~~ It was not overly intense, and the meat and seafood were well mixed—so good bb

Tangsuyuk and fried dumplings with a lovely crunch

I can absolutely call this a great Cheonan cockle jjamppong restaurant, but its tangsuyuk is excellent too! I usually prefer to dip rather than have sauce poured on, and since they did not coat all the tangsuyuk in sauce, it stayed crispy and I could eat it just the way I like, haha. The heap of vegetables on top was a great touch too~ I crunched through them almost like an appetizer, then the tangsuyuk was wonderfully crisp ♥ The sauce was not just sweet either, so it was great for dipping generously :-)

Crispy tangsuyuk with vegetables

There were 10 fried dumplings, so I thought there was no way we would finish them all, but they were so incredibly deliciously crisp that we ate every last one, hahaha. Every dish was nicely balanced with nothing lacking, but the tangsuyuk and fried dumplings were even tastier because they really nailed that crunch! It has expanded into a nationwide franchise, but the original branch is near Sinjeongho Lake in Asan~ There are about seven branches in total, and I was satisfied with both the facilities and the flavors, so do keep it in mind if you are looking for jjamppong in Sinbang-dong :-)

Parking is self-registration, which you can do yourself beside the counter! I especially recommend it to anyone looking for a Chinese restaurant near the Ssangyong-dong E-Mart~ Parking is easy, and it is a great spot for family meals as well as group gatherings, haha. Though it is a Chinese restaurant, it is also clean and tidy, making it nice for dining in—and food served hot and fresh is even more delicious ♥ If you enjoy Chinese food that gets the basics right, definitely visit :-) I am planning to come back too whenever I crave jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk~~ Small tangsuyuk ₩17,000 / jajangmyeon ₩8,000 / jjamppong rice ₩11,000 / fried dumplings ₩6,000
