Spicy braised short ribs in Geumcheon, Seoul: Gim Myeongtae
In short
Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch is a Korean restaurant in Geumcheon, Seoul, serving spicy braised short ribs and braised pollack. We added wide glass noodles and flying-fish-roe rice balls to a small original spicy braised short ribs order; the meat was tender and not too spicy. Verdict: a generous, good-value pick for lunch or group dinners.

Spicy braised short ribs I found in Gasan-dong
The weather suddenly got chillyㅜㅜ It is seriously cold in the mornings and evenings! Haha. Today, I am sharing my dinner visit to Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch (김명태 매운갈비찜 가산점), a Gasan-dong restaurant I found on the fly for spicy braised short ribs!
It is open daily from 10:00 to 22:30, with last orders at 21:50. It is on the first floor at 132-1 Gasan-ro, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and parking is available!

Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch is a three-minute walk from Hyundai Outlet Gasan. There is space for three cars to the right of the restaurant, and if there is no spot, you get ₩1,000 off when using the public parking lot across the street.

A Gasan-dong group-dinner spot with large tables
I had wanted to visit after seeing it while passing by for a while, and I finally did! The interior is spacious, and there is even a separate large group seating area that is great for company dinners. If you are looking for a Gasan-dong restaurant for a group dinner, this is it!!

Spicy braised short ribs menu and lunch options
Here is the menu at Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch. Braised pollack, braised cuttlefish, and braised short ribs are the main dishes. There were six kinds of spicy braised short ribs too: original, kimchi, bean sprouts, dried radish greens, cuttlefish, and cheese. We ordered the original spicy braised short ribs.
There are also meal options such as hangover soup, oyster gukbap (rice soup), cockle bibimbap (mixed rice), and pot rice, so I think it is a nice place to come for lunch too.

Basic side dishes and the self-serve bar
These are the basic side dishes. The evenings have gotten a little chilly lately, so the hot bean sprout soup was so nice, haha. I was hungry, so I inhaled the sweet corn too, haha.

For any extra side dishes, you can help yourself at the self-serve bar. Along with the pickled radish wraps, sweet corn, and bean sprouts served at the table, there was salted octopus too! You know salted octopus is such a rice thief, right?! But since we had spicy braised short ribs, I only had a taste, haha. The pickled radish wraps went so well with the spicy braised short ribs that I went back for more a few times, haha.

A generous small order of original spicy braised short ribs
Our small order of spicy braised short ribs came out quickly. It was piled high with bean sprouts, and there was a substantial amount of short ribs too! It is a small order, but look at the portion, haha.

It also comes with a serving of glass noodles, haha. I loved that they were wide glass noodles rather than round ones. Once you add them, be sure to eat them first so they do not stick together.

There were cheese rice cakes and mushrooms inside too. If I had had more room, I would have added extra cheese rice cakes..ㅠㅠ I am a cheese-rice-cake lover, so they were super delicious.
We added the glass noodles and let everything boil away~ There were tongs and scissors at the table, so we cut it into easy-to-eat pieces.
Even though it is spicy braised short ribs, it was not very spicy, which I liked, haha. But it seems you can adjust the spice level too. If you like spicy food, I think you can ask them to adjust it. There was lots of meat, and it was not tough at all—so tender, the best! It kind of reminded me of the meat in gamjatang (pork bone soup). A bite of pickled radish wrap, bean sprouts, and meat together was delicious~ I think perilla leaves would be nice too.

Flying-fish-roe rice balls and the lunch special
We debated plain rice, making flying-fish-roe fried rice after finishing everything, or getting flying-fish-roe rice balls, then decided to get the rice balls to eat with the meat. And flying-fish-roe rice balls are such a perfect match for spicy sauce, are they not~
They say pot rice is served as a lunch special before 15:00, whether it is a weekday or weekend. It seems like a good Gasan-dong lunch spot too, haha. The staff were kind, and the food was neat and generous, so it is good value and just right for group dinners. The braised pollack at the next table looked delicious too, so I am going to try that next time! Hahaha.
Also, they say that when you order braised pollack or dried-radish-greens braised pollack in a small size or larger for takeout, they give you one extra fish. Is that not incredibly generous!! I need to try it as takeout too~ haha.
