Hi, this is Tam! Today I want to introduce a pork belly place I've been going to a lot lately — a Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly favorite. My partner Neulbo and I were out grocery shopping at E-Mart when I suddenly, urgently wanted pork belly, so we ran over to Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch! Let's get into the review :)

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly spot located right at the entrance of the food alley behind the Lotte Department Store near Sinjung-dong Station.

Cham Dwaejitgan uses black pork from Jirisan, and the chewy texture and deep meat flavor really stood out to me.

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is easy to get to from Sinjung-dong Station, so I'd really recommend it as a meeting spot too. Most of all, the store is spacious, so it's not stressful at all to visit with a group — a Sinjung-dong favorite that's apparently really popular for Bucheon company dinners and group gatherings too.

On top of that, they grill everything for you, so it's great for chatting while you eat, and it also fits the vibe of pork belly with a drink in the evening.

At the self-serve bar, you can just grab more food if you run out.

You can easily spot meat-aging fridges around the store. Apparently aging requires carefully managing temperature and storage conditions consistently, and being able to see it directly made me trust the place even more.

Our order was Boseong nokdon pork belly at ₩16,000 x 3 servings, egg soy sauce rice at ₩3,900, and a fried rice from a review event.

Pork belly with minari, bean sprouts and kimchi

The safety spoon really won me over. What makes Cham Dwaejitgan most distinctive is grilling bean sprouts + minari (water dropwort) + kimchi together with the meat!

At first I thought — minari with pork belly? But this combo turned out to be so much better than I expected.

They grill the bean sprouts, kimchi, and minari together on the pan, and as the minari wilts slightly, a fragrant aroma rises, and when it soaks up a bit of the fat from the pork belly, it's really a perfect match.

And here's the pork belly we ordered — 3 servings!

This Bucheon pork belly favorite is unusual in that mushrooms, peppers, and even thinly sliced potato are served alongside the pork belly, ready to wrap and eat.

Wrapping pork belly in a well-grilled potato slice makes for a really savory and distinctive combination.

Egg soy sauce rice at 3,900 won: the baby's meal sorted

And then the egg soy sauce rice! We'd rushed over as a family while grocery shopping at E-Mart and had nothing for our baby to eat — but oh my, it was so good. It was tasty and there was a lot of it, so honestly we ended up eating more of it than our baby did, hahaha. It's a perfect match eaten with grilled kimchi :)

There's something exciting about meat the moment it hits the grill, hahaha.

At Cham Dwaejitgan you get to eat meat grilled over real charcoal, which has a different appeal from a regular grill. And the staff grill it for you from start to finish, which is a huge plus — you can just relax and eat!!!!

And before you know it, the pork belly is beautifully grilled. Personally, I found that eating pork belly + grilled minari + bean sprouts + kimchi together was way more delicious than just eating pork belly alone! 👍 Especially since pork belly can start to feel greasy the more you eat, the fragrance of minari and the crunch of bean sprouts cut through the richness, making it all the more satisfying — a real Sinjung-dong Station pork belly favorite.

🥬 So many sides to pair with the meat, and I love that

It's a bit of a letdown if a BBQ place only nails the meat — am I the only one who feels that way? There are so many things to pair with the meat here that you can mix and match to your own taste!

It's good wrapped up as a ssam, and also good piled with minari and bean sprouts, plus there are several sauces prepared, so you can enjoy each bite of meat a little differently — a real Sinjung-dong favorite :)

At the end, they grill the mushrooms and peppers while crisping up the potato slices, and honestly, that's the real kicker. What even is this combo~~~~

We were so, so full, but you know what comes next — K-fried rice. It's an unwritten rule, hahahaha.

The fried rice was delicious too, which really didn't help my diet, but I was happy anyway.

The food is delicious, and the store is spacious and clean, which makes Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch an even better Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly spot :) The space itself feels roomy, so it was comfortable even with several people.

It had been a while since we'd gone out for pork belly, and as always, Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch was satisfying!
