Charcoal-grilled Jeju pork with kids in Suyeong, Busan: Myeongseung
In short
Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi (명승제주생고기) is a charcoal-grill pork restaurant near Gwangan Station in Suyeong, Busan, serving fresh, never-frozen pork from Jeju Island. We ordered 3 servings of ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), 1 serving of seasoned ribs and doenjang (soybean paste stew) with rice, and finished with thick, juicy meat and a savory bowl of stew. Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi made for an easy, relaxed family dinner with two young kids.

Today we headed to Gwangan for dinner with our two kids! I went half-doubtful when I heard you could get real Jeju pork in Busan, but it was seriously so good haha. All I could say was 'wow, amazing.'

Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi: a 2-minute walk from Gwangan Station
It's 136m from Exit 1 of Gwangan Station, so about a 2-minute walk. Sunday and Saturday hours are 11:00–22:00, while Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday it's 17:00–22:00 — closed on Tuesdays, so don't get mixed up! Parking is available right in front of the restaurant.
What are the exterior and interior like?

'Since 2007' is written right on the sign, and you really feel the years as a well-known Gwangan Station meat spot. Old newspaper clippings and a list of TV appearances are pasted up outside — since 2007 they've been on KBS, SBS, KNN, MBC, and more.
The first thing I noticed walking in was the receipt wall. The whole window is covered in receipts proving the pork is genuinely from Jeju haha. Proof of real Jeju raw pork! Haha. They're also running an event where you get a free side dish if you leave a receipt review.

The seating is wooden tables with a charcoal brazier set right in — a cozy, old-school feel. There's a sunflower painting on the wall along with some Jeju-themed decor, so it has a bit of that island atmosphere too haha. If you're looking for an old-school neighborhood restaurant in Suyeong, this kind of vintage charm would be right up your alley.

How were the ogyeopsal and seasoned ribs?

We ordered 3 servings of pork belly, 1 serving of seasoned ribs, and doenjang (soybean paste stew) on the side. The second the meat hit the grill, the sizzle and the smell alone had my mouth watering haha.
The meat itself was thick and full of juice, so every bite brought a big hit of that rich meaty flavor.

Wrapped up with garlic and ssamjang (spicy dipping paste), each bite was just perfect.

And the doenjang we had at the end... we would have really missed out if we hadn't ordered it haha.
Is Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi good for dinner with kids?
The moment the meat came out, my younger one grabbed a fork and dove right in lol. The older one sat quietly nearby watching a tablet but still kept eating her share the whole time. Both of them ate well, so I got to enjoy the meal without worrying.

If you're looking for a Gwangalli restaurant that's easy to bring kids to, I'd recommend this place. It had a comfortable atmosphere for a family meal.
A Gwangalli restaurant with over 20 years of history behind it — thick Jeju black pork and savory doenjang made for a perfect dinner 🐖
