I visited Manpo Garden, a great spot for family gatherings located between Goeup and Okjeong in Yangju. The restaurant was incredibly clean and upscale, and it even has private rooms, so it seemed perfect for a family gathering or group meal.

Manpo Garden also has a large parking lot right out front, so parking was easy, and the dining hall was spacious too.

As soon as we went inside, there were refrigerators stocked with packaged meat and gift sets. With Chuseok coming up soon, picking up a gift set could be a nice idea too.

The interior was really spacious and tidy, making it great for family gatherings, and I think the private rooms would make it a good restaurant for a meeting between families too!

The private rooms start at eight people and can accommodate even larger groups! They said they can put up a partition for a group of eight, so I’m thinking of having my family gathering at Manpo Garden this Chuseok too! Reservations are available :D

Kiosk ordering and the weekday lunch special

You order at the kiosk, and they also lay out a paper menu so it is easy for older guests to read. We went around lunchtime, and there were so many customers because they had the lunch-special galbi set meal and other meal options too.

The two of us ordered one serving of handmade galbi and 150g of Korean beef sirloin, and we ate until we were absolutely stuffed. Also, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, ordering galbi gets you naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and doenjang sulbap according to your party size, so really... we were so full!

Manpo Garden’s basic side dishes

The side dishes came out so neatly and beautifully, right?! Every single one was delicious, and there was even yukjeon (pan-fried beef) and yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), so we enjoyed everything. If you need more, just use the self-service bar! In particular, all the side dishes paired so well with the meat.

Since the meats use different grill plates, they asked which one we wanted to cook first and changed the grill for us.

Even though it was 150g, the meat felt quite large!

The beef was so tender—it just melted in my mouth..

The doenjang sulbap, soybean-paste rice soup included in the weekday lunch special, arrived. I did not know it was coming, so I was surprised when it appeared, but in the best way. It was seriously delicious and perfect after a night of drinking!

The Korean pork galbi was delicious too, with that sweet-and-salty balance. Even one serving felt like a generous amount, and it is a flavor anyone of any age would enjoy. It paired wonderfully with all the side dishes, and we kept saying, “This is so good, this is so good,” as we ate, haha.

The heat was strong, so the meat cooked quickly, but they also added a plate beside the grill to set it on, so we could keep it warm without burning it until the end.

The mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) and bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) were included as standard; since there were two of us, we received two bowls. The mul-naengmyeon was perfectly seasoned even without adding mustard or vinegar, and seriously insanely good..

Coffee, puffed rice snacks, and ice cream for dessert

At Manpo Garden, dessert is ready after you finish eating too. Outside the restaurant, there is a coffee vending machine, puffed rice snacks, and ice cream—and they even have cups of ice ready. Such thoughtful service from Manpo Garden.

Especially, you have to try the puffed rice snack and ice cream combination.. A lot of restaurants serve ice cream that is not very good, but this ice cream was seriously incredibly delicious!!!!!!!!!

From the side dishes to the main meat and dessert, Manpo Garden was perfect. The restaurant interior and the food quality were better than I expected, and the prices felt even better for that quality—such a great galbi restaurant in Yangju! It is great for family gatherings, group gatherings, and company dinners, and the weekday lunch special comes with even more complimentary dishes, so I will definitely be back at Manpo Garden. If you are deciding where to hold a family gathering, I highly recommend Manpo Garden.
