Why gyukatsu for a lunch near Seoul Station?

Here's my review of a Seoul Station gyukatsu spot I checked out 🥩 I was hunting for somewhere to eat lunch near Seoul Station and this time I went for gyukatsu! There are so many good restaurants around Seoul Station that I had a hard time deciding, but I was craving something properly meaty, so gyukatsu it was!

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is open 11:00 - 21:30, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and last orders at 14:00 and 20:30.

How easy is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch to reach?

📍 I stumbled on Ichigyu while looking for Seoul Station restaurants,,! There are always tons of people and offices around Seoul Station, so it gets busy at lunchtime — I hustled right over.

Being right near Seoul Station made it super accessible, and the food came out fast, so it was also great for a quick bite and go!!

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch menu and prices

Ichigyu's menu is built around gyukatsu but also has steak, rice bowls, curry, and a really wide range of side dishes,,, I liked that it's not just a one-dish gyukatsu place — there's room to pick based on what you're in the mood for haha

The signature sirloin gyukatsu is 19,500 won, omurice is 17,000 won, and a mini curry you can easily add on is around 5,000 won. For a gyukatsu specialty restaurant that's pretty affordable, and the portions are generous too — I was very satisfied!

The seats were so spacious and plentiful that turnover was good and I could eat comfortably,,haha

Grilling gyukatsu on your own personal brazier

🥩 Time for the real gyukatsu experience! It finally arrived!! The visual alone — that crispy fried coating — got my expectations up,, The best thing about gyukatsu is being able to cook the meat exactly to your liking!! I grilled it piece by piece, and I loved how crispy it was outside while staying soft and tender inside

Best of all, the portion was generous and they gave plenty of rice too,, I left completely full and satisfied haha

Grilling it yourself over the personal brazier with melted butter made the butter aroma even better haha Unlike regular pork cutlet, what's great about gyukatsu is that the outside stays crispy while you cook the inside to exactly the doneness you want ㅜ

Butter aroma and the sauces at Ichigyu

As the butter aroma soaked into the meat, the flavor felt even richer, and it was fun trying the different sauces served alongside haha Personally I think gyukatsu tastes better grilled just enough rather than cooked too long haha

Grilling it to a nice golden brown and dipping it in sauce really brought out the meat's savory flavor 🥩💕 The coating was crispy and the meat was tender, so the texture contrast really came through!

Is Ichigyu good for a Seoul Station date or a workday lunch?

It's filling, and grilling it yourself is fun, so it felt a bit more unique than just eating regular pork cutlet! It's a solid choice for a workday lunch near Seoul Station, and also good for meeting a friend for lunch or dinner!!

Especially for a Seoul Station date, if you're looking for something reasonably filling that's also fun to share, rather than something too heavy, gyukatsu could be a good pick 😎💗 If you're a meat lover, this menu will suit your taste well!!
