A café for a quick break with a child at Starfield Suwon

My family visited Starfield Suwon with our child, and after shopping and looking around, we were searching for somewhere to take a quick break when we stopped at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch (정지영커피로스터즈 스타필드수원점). There are so many cafés at Starfield Suwon that it is hard to decide where to go, but Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters was a name I already knew. It also seemed like a proper coffee specialist, so I had wanted to visit for a while. Above all, the location was really convenient.

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch is on the second floor of Starfield Suwon, near the entrance to Gourmet Street, so it is naturally easy to drop by after a meal. It is a nice spot for coffee or a drink after eating at Gourmet Street, and the route works well for a quick rest while looking around Starfield. I did not eat at Gourmet Street that day, but my child was feeling so unwell that going properly to a café would have been difficult. Since this café is inside Starfield, though, we could let our child find things of interest and play within the mall while enjoying our drinks. Our child had fun walking around outside the shop, so my husband and I took turns watching, and each of us got to enjoy a delicious drink.

Why I wanted to try Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters was somewhere I had wanted to try at least once. It was my first visit, but the name felt familiar because it is a local coffee brand with several branches in Suwon and is fairly well known among coffee lovers through its main branch in Haenggung-dong. The Starfield Suwon branch also felt more like a coffee specialist than just an ordinary café inside a mall.

Inside, there were various drinks and desserts to enjoy with coffee. The menu included basic coffees such as Americanos and café lattes, as well as coconut coffee and vanilla lattes.

They also sold a range of coffee beans, and I could smell their aromas.

We ordered grapefruit ade and blueberry yogurt

That day, I ordered grapefruit ade and blueberry yogurt. I had actually wanted to try the coffee, but we visited in the evening and I had already had two cups that day, so I was not in a condition to have any more caffeine. I was disappointed not to taste the coffee. Still, although they were non-coffee drinks, both were so good.

To start with the grapefruit ade: the kind of ade I really dislike is one where only the artificial sweetness of syrup comes through, but Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters’ grapefruit ade was far from that. With the first sip, the distinctive grapefruit fragrance and pulpy feel came alive. There was especially quite a lot of grapefruit pulp, so I loved encountering pieces of grapefruit as I drank it. Rather than tasting like sparkling water mixed with grapefruit-flavored syrup, the chewable pulp really made it feel as though I was drinking grapefruit.

I also liked that it had grapefruit’s characteristic refreshing, slightly bitter flavor, so sweetness was not all that lingered! Served cold, its sweet-and-bitter taste felt as if it eased some of the fatigue that had built up that day, and I thought it would also be a nice drink to freshen the palate after a meal.

Blueberry yogurt with real blueberries to chew

The blueberry yogurt was delicious too. Since it was a yogurt drink, I expected only a smooth, sweet yogurt flavor, but once I tried it, I could definitely tell there were blueberries in it. What I liked most was that there were real blueberries to chew! The blueberries between the smooth yogurt base made the texture fun, and their tangy flavor went well with the yogurt’s soft, refreshing taste. It was delicious and had a healthy feel because I could drink it without it feeling overly heavy or rich. Personally, the huge amount of grapefruit pulp in the ade and the texture of real blueberries in the yogurt were what stayed with me most from the drinks that day.

Next time, I want to try the coffee

I ordered non-coffee drinks that day, but true to the name Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters, this was also somewhere I had high expectations for the coffee menu. Along with standard options such as Americanos and café lattes, there were drinks like coconut coffee, known as a Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters signature, so the menu had the kind of selection you would expect from a coffee specialist. It made me want to try the coffee next time. I visit Starfield Suwon from time to time, and on my next visit I will definitely have coffee.

A visit that was easy to manage with a child

More than anything, what I was happiest about on this visit was how easy it was to get around with our child. I love going to cafés, so whenever we go out as a family, we always make a café part of the itinerary. That day, though, my child was not feeling well, so I felt I would not be able to fully enjoy a café even if we went. But because we visited Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters in the pleasant Starfield setting, my child could play while I enjoyed my drink, which was lovely. The café was not large, but its interior had a calm yet distinctive atmosphere that was enjoyable in itself. While I had my drink, our child walked and ran freely in front of Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters. Going to even one café is not easy when you are out with a baby, but Starfield Suwon is such a large mall that there is plenty to see with a child, while parents can also stop at a café and rest briefly. Since it is located at the entrance to Gourmet Street, Starfield’s food court, I also thought it would be a great place for people eating there to stop by.

The drinks we ordered were also higher quality than I expected, with memorable flavors. I still regret not ordering coffee that day, but I will definitely taste it next time. Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch is a fitting choice for anyone looking for a convenient place with good coffee in Suwon.
