Ansan bakery café for bingsu sets and baguettes: Flowerpot

The weather was so nice that I wanted to go out, find somewhere atmospheric, and have delicious bread and coffee. While searching, I heard there was a famous dessert spot in Gojan-dong, Ansan—a bakery café—so I decided to visit.

Flowerpot Cafe is right behind the LG Electronics Best Shop and AW Convention in Gojan-dong, so it was easy to find. There is no parking in the building itself, but there are plenty of public street parking spaces right in front of and around the café, making it affordable and convenient to park. I recommend checking with the café about opening hours and closing days before you visit.

Bingsu sets and drink menu

After parking, I noticed the set menu and bingsu set before even entering. It was still hot around lunchtime—definitely the season when bingsu comes to mind.

As a bakery and café, it has a wide selection of coffee, ade drinks, smoothies, tea, fresh fruit juice, and more.

When summer gets hot, it has to be bingsu~ I think a cool iced Americano is just right with bingsu. (Set recommendation!)

A café where plants and sunlight come together

As soon as you open the door, the café staff welcome you with kind greetings. There were quite a few people inside, which made it feel like a well-loved bakery café. The first thing I thought was that I might not get the bread I wanted. I love baguette-style bread. (Actually, I love them all.)

The café has a natural atmosphere mixed with plants, with fresh greenery woven into the space without being overwhelming. It felt like comfort and coziness existed together.

There is group seating too, and this area gets sunlight, so it would be perfect for anyone who likes a bright spot. First, though, we needed to grab a seat and hurry over to order.

The bakery display is in the middle of the café. Pick what you want and take it to the counter.

A wide range of breads baked in-house

Fortunately, there was still bread left. Time to hurry and choose! There were lots of visitors, and they all seemed to be enjoying the café's lovely atmosphere. I seek out places with lots of visitors, because those are the famous cafés—and there is a reason they are famous. It is also fun finding out why a place is so popular.

A relaxing atmosphere extending to the back

You can take your time in a relaxed atmosphere created by the harmony of sunlight and green plants in the city. Judging by how many guests were seated farther inside, that area seems to have the best atmosphere.

Bread and injeolmi patbingsu ordered with my family

Now we were hungry, so we ordered. My family chose bakery items, coffee, and injeolmi patbingsu (shaved ice topped with chewy rice cake powder).

First, we cooled down with the injeolmi patbingsu. They really give you a lot of injeolmi on the milk shaved ice. You can get one whole piece of injeolmi in every spoonful.

When summer gets hot, injeolmi patbingsu is the best. The combination of injeolmi and milk shaved ice is fantastic. The sweetness of the milk, the chewiness of the injeolmi, and the sweetness of the red beans made me forget the heat in a single bite.

Unlike regular ang-butter bread, the ang-butter salt bread uses salt bread as its base, so it has a crisp exterior and a satisfyingly chewy interior.

The outside has that signature baguette crunch, while the inside is surprisingly moist and soft from soaking up the garlic sauce. The garlic baguette goes so well with an iced Americano.

The raspberry baguette has soft, sweet-tart raspberry cream sandwiched inside the nutty, crisp texture that is characteristic of baguette bread.

Putting the ang-butter salt bread, garlic baguette, and raspberry bread together and having them with coffee felt so atmospheric—and delicious. It made me want another cup of coffee.

Ah! The iced Americano was exactly my style: not overly acidic, with a rich, nutty bean flavor and a clean body.

Self-service packing station and restroom inside

There is a handy packing station where you can pack up leftover bread yourself. The staff are busy, so I think it is best to pack things ourselves at the right time and in the way that suits us. Packing complete!

I was surprised that the restroom is inside the café even though it is in an office building. Usually you have to use a shared restroom outside the shop, so I think the facilities here are excellent.

A bakery café for a restful break in downtown Ansan

A Sunday weekend is a brief time to rest for people heading back to work the next day. If you are looking for a bakery café near Ansan with the relaxing atmosphere of an arboretum in the city, I recommend Flowerpot Cafe in Ansan.

The café bakes all kinds of bread in-house, so you can enjoy that crisp texture. The staff are kind, and the café is well maintained. With a pleasant number of visitors, it was bright and comfortable rather than quiet and dark. Flowerpot Cafe in Ansan made me feel as though I had healed on a Sunday at the end of the week.
