In short
Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch is an aged pork belly restaurant on the 1st floor of Bujaro Tower in Okjeong Central Shopping District, Yangju, Gyeonggi. Returning for a 4-person family meal, the writer ordered the set menu (14-day aged fresh pork belly for 3 people plus aged kimchi stew) with stone-pot rice, and found the thick, juicy pork belly, spicy stew, and finishing rice tea combination excellent. Recommended for family meals or group gatherings in Okjeong.

Looking for a family dinner spot in Okjeong after a while, I revisited Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui! It's famous as one of the best pork belly restaurants in Okjeong — the meat is aged, so it's thick and full of juice, making it my all-time favorite pork belly spot~

This Okjeong pork belly restaurant is located on the 1st floor of Bujaro Tower in Okjeong Central Shopping District~
I parked in the basement of Bujaro Tower, which has a lower level too and plenty of space, which was nice. Parking is ₩1,500 per 30 minutes after the first 2 hours, and if it's full you can park at Dream Tower 2, the public parking lot right next to the building.
As soon as you walk in the entrance, you see meat aging in a fridge. They say it's chilled and aged for 336 hours, so how could it not taste good, haha.

The interior is spacious with plenty of tables too, so it's great for a family meal or group gathering in Okjeong~

Menu and prices — ordering the set menu since we were four
Here's the Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju price menu. The main is 14-day aged pork, but they also have hanwoo (Korean beef) and meal options. Since there were 4 of us, we ordered the set menu — pork belly for 3 with kimchi stew! First time trying the set menu, and my expectations were sky-high...

There's also a lunch special event: if you order meat between 12 PM and 5 PM, you get 2 servings of stone-pot rice plus doenjang stew (fermented soybean paste stew)~ We visited too late to get it, but the stone-pot rice with doenjang stew combo at Mat Chandeul is a definite recommend!! Time your visit right and try it, haha.
Pickled side dishes you only see at Mat Chandeul
They brought out the side dishes first, and every time I come the side dishes are unique and varied. These pickled dishes are something you only see at Mat Chandeul among Okjeong pork belly restaurants~

The pickled chili, rinsed aged kimchi, and mustard radish slaw are placed on the grill by staff while the meat cooks. They're delicious even on their own — salty and savory!

The wasabi, salted pollock roe, and spicy bean sprout scallion sauce were also tasty and spicy haha.

14-day aged fresh pork belly for 3
14-day aged fresh pork belly (150g per serving, ₩17,000) — since this is such a well-known Okjeong pork belly spot, the fresh pork belly is what I recommend most! Since our set came with kimchi stew, we only ordered 3 servings~

Staff grill the meat for you, and true to its reputation as a top Okjeong pork belly restaurant, it's thick and full of juice — pure art just to look at... The portion isn't huge, but each bite is that much more moving!

They even made us 4 different flavor combos by placing side dishes on top of the meat like sushi — eating it that way was really delicious. Uniquely, they also cook the salted shrimp, which turns crispy and salty — quite the delicacy, giving off a soju-snack vibe~

The moment you take a bite, you go 'oh right, this is the taste'... this Okjeong pork belly favorite, haha. Pairing it with wasabi, pollock roe, and the various pickled sides makes it fun to eat too~
The aged kimchi stew that came with the set
Aged kimchi stew, ₩33,000 — I wasn't expecting much from the kimchi stew, but it was packed with pork, aged kimchi, tofu, and ramen noodles. The broth is spicy and hearty too — one spoonful and your insides warm right up, perfect for weather with this kind of big temperature swing haha.

The stew is generous with pork and the ramen noodles are chewy and delicious~ Totally recommend the stew set menu!!
Finishing with stone-pot rice and rice tea
Freshly made stone-pot rice, ₩5,000 — the 2-serving stone-pot rice I order every time I come to Mat Chandeul, the rice is sticky and fluffy and just really good haha. Highly recommend!!

Wrapping the steaming stone-pot rice in the seaweed that came with it and dipping it in soy sauce is honey-sweet~

Finishing with the rice tea (sungnyung) made from the water poured in earlier rounds off this Okjeong pork belly restaurant perfectly...
Wrap-up
My all-time favorite Okjeong pork belly spot — thick and juicy thanks to the aging! The aged pork belly with either the beef brisket doenjang stew or kimchi stew was delicious, and finishing with stone-pot rice was pure bliss... For an Okjeong pork belly restaurant, family meal spot, or a place to eat in Okjeong Central Shopping District, I recommend Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui!!
