Two poached-egg dishes at a Dalmaji-gil Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, with parking underground and beside the shop, which makes it easy to reach on a weekend drive out with family. On a weekend visit the order was poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang and poached-egg nakji (octopus) Chinese rice bowl: thick pork belly with smoky ganjjajang sauce, and plump octopus in a spicy sauce, both wrapped in a silky poached egg. If ordinary Chinese food feels routine, the poached-egg dishes at Bueokgan Chinese make one meal feel special.

Today's dishes!! Poached-egg octopus Chinese rice bowl and poached-egg pork belly jjajangmyeon!

The first dish I tried was the poached-egg pork belly jjajangmyeon. It's loaded with thick, generously sized, nicely browned pork belly, giving a hearty, satisfying bite.

The rich jjajang sauce with a subtle smoky char pairs wonderfully with the noodles, and the poached egg and onion on top went really well with the meat~~!

The appeal of popping that poached egg is real, haha, it was so good. Mixing the soft poached egg into the noodles brings out even more nuttiness and a smooth flavor.

The second dish is the poached-egg octopus Chinese rice bowl, which grabs your appetite with its spicy kick! It's generously loaded with plump, chewy octopus, giving great texture to chew on.

The spicy, tangy, deeply savory sauce soaked well into every grain of rice, haha. The fiery heat was softened beautifully by the nutty poached egg, striking a great balance~~
