Picking a menu near Gangnam Station is always weirdly hard for me. I eat pasta or meat so often that I want something a bit different, but on some days a totally typical Korean restaurant doesn't feel right either — I just want somewhere with a good atmosphere.
This time I heard about a fusion Korean place that reworks familiar Korean ingredients in unexpected ways, so I went to Moa Gangnam. From pasta made with perilla oil and salted seafood, to pot rice topped with abalone, to risotto made with gulfweed (a fine green seaweed), the lineup was unusual enough that I was curious even before going.
If you're looking for a date spot or a place to meet friends in Gangnam, this might be worth checking out!
Moa Gangnam location and parking
Moa Gangnam / 1F, 31 Teheran-ro 5-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
🚇 Public transit — About a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station (Line 2 / Sinbundang Line). It's roughly 294m from the exit, so it's not a stressful walk at all.
🚗 Parking — There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving, plan to use a nearby paid lot. Since it's so close to the station, taking public transit is honestly the easiest option.

The Gangnam branch of Moa, tucked into an alley near Gangnam Station! The clean exterior and fusion Korean dining vibe made it easy to spot. Being about a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 also made it convenient to get to by public transit :)

Sunlit interior with big windows, and the window-seat mood
The interior is bright and warm, with sunlight streaming in through the large windows. Wood-toned tables and chairs paired with plants scattered around make it feel comfortable yet atmospheric — a good fit for a date or a group gathering.
There are window seats too, so visiting during the day means you can eat leisurely in the sunlight. The tables were also spaced generously enough that eating never felt cramped :)

Once inside, the vibe was clearly different from a typical Korean restaurant. It felt clean and casual overall, which made it easy to chat over the meal. It's also great for ordering several dishes with friends to share, and the atmosphere made it feel like a solid date spot near Gangnam Station too.
Best of all, the menu itself was fun to read. From abalone mushroom butter pot rice to gulfweed conch risotto to perilla oil salted seafood pasta, the menu stood out for taking ingredients you'd normally see in Korean food and folding them into pasta and risotto. After some deliberation, we ordered three dishes.

What we ordered and the prices
- Gulfweed conch risotto (매생이소라리조또) ₩14,800
- Perilla oil salted seafood pasta (들기름젓갈파스타) ₩15,800
- Abalone mushroom butter pot rice (전복버섯버터솥밥) ₩20,000
- Pepsi Zero ₩3,000
- Total order ₩53,600

Perilla oil salted seafood pasta
The first one I was curious about — perilla oil salted seafood pasta! It's made with salted pollock roe and salted octopus, plus nuts and whole perilla seeds, and the combination of Korean flavors with pasta was surprisingly fun.
The nutty richness of perilla oil combined with the salty umami typical of salted seafood, giving it a distinctly different feel from a regular oil pasta. The bits you bite into along the way add texture too, making it a dish that really showed off Moa Gangnam's fusion Korean concept.

Abalone mushroom butter pot rice
Next was the piping-hot abalone mushroom butter pot rice. Abalone and mushrooms sat on top of the rice, and it looked delicious from the moment it arrived.

Mixing the ingredients evenly into the warm rice let the butter melt naturally, adding a nutty richness. Chewy abalone, fragrant mushrooms, and savory rice together in one bite felt hearty, and it paired well with the other two dishes too. If you're visiting with a group, ordering one pot rice to share would work well.

Gulfweed conch risotto
Last up: gulfweed conch risotto! Gulfweed usually makes me think of soup or gulfweed-and-oyster soup rather than anything Western, so using it in risotto felt fresh.

The distinct flavor of gulfweed came through subtly amid the smooth risotto, and the chewy conch added great texture too. It has a different charm from a typical cream risotto, so if you like trying unusual dishes, it's worth ordering at least once.
Overall verdict: taste, price, atmosphere
✔️ Taste — Overall, Korean ingredients were reworked into a fusion style really well! The gulfweed conch risotto was honestly the best of the three. The smooth, nutty risotto blends beautifully with the umami of gulfweed, and the chewy conch kept me coming back for more bites. If I had to pick just one to eat again, this is it, no question.
✔️ Price — Main dishes range from the high teens to around ₩20,000, which feels reasonable given the location near Gangnam Station and the menu concept. Good for ordering a few dishes to share.
✔️ Atmosphere — The wood-toned interior mixed with plants gives it a warm, comfortable feel. It's not too formal and not too casual, so it works for both a date and a friends' gathering.
✔️ Service — Ordering at the table was easy, and overall the meal felt relaxed and low-pressure.
✔️ Would I return — Yes! I especially want to come back for the gulfweed conch risotto. Next time I'd like to try more of the other fusion Korean dishes too.
