In short
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is an Italian restaurant in Jung-gu, Daegu, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy split-level interior. You know how the breeze is getting cooler on the way home from work these days? Maybe it is the crisp autumn air suddenly creeping in, but there are days when I want to gift myself something truly delicious after working hard all day. I made after-work plans with a friend, and all I could think about was rosé pasta drenched in thick, sweet-and-spicy sauce. 🍝
After wondering where to go, we dashed over to Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch (다나 동성로본점) in Bongsan-dong, near Banwoldang Station, where all the hot spots gather. I had heard it was recommended as a Daegu blind-date spot because it is so pretty and charming, so I was curious to see just how lovely it was. It was easy to reach from Banwoldang Station, and the delicious smell that greeted us the moment we pushed through the chilly air and stepped inside already had my heart racing! 🍕🥩🍛

Finding Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch from Banwoldang Station
Exit 10 of Banwoldang Station on Daegu Metro Lines 1 and 2, then turn right at Cat Gallery, a cat-adoption shop. Cross the crosswalk toward Fukuoka Horumon Dongseong-ro Branch, turn left, turn right at Beongae Bunsik, then right again at Persia Piercing.
You will find it while walking through the busy downtown area around Banwoldang Station. When you reach the building, atmospheric stairs welcome you first—going up them feels a little like entering a secret hideout? 👀

There is a menu board right out front, so you can ponder what to eat before going in. The second I saw it, I understood why this is known as a Daegu date-course or blind-date spot.

The entire second and third floors are wrapped in expansive glass, so even from outside you can feel the warm, charming lighting and cheerful atmosphere. It is full of pretty sunlight in the day, then sparkling night views in the evening—so romantic!! 🎇🎆

Split-level floor-to-ceiling windows and atmospheric seating
Walking up the stairs and opening the door, the interior was completely cozy and refined. It has a split-level layout across two floors, and honestly, how could a space be this perfectly to my taste? 😭

As soon as you enter the first floor, look over the menu, choose what you want, and pay in advance.

Then choose whichever seat you like: the cozy, atmospheric first floor or the second floor with its open view. While you chat comfortably with your friend, the staff bring the food directly to your table. 🍽

The second floor's huge windows make everything feel wonderfully open. Dongseong-ro unfolds below, making it a sunny spot by day and a romantic place for glittering night views after sunset. Soft lights twinkle overhead, and with greenery and pretty mirror photo spots throughout, it feels like every angle could deliver a life shot. ✨️

Extra cups and tableware are neatly set out on one side for easy use during your meal. I loved being able to grab what we needed without calling a staff member over. And running low on battery at a restaurant is stressful these days, right? 😭 They even have phone charging cables, so you can eat, take photos, and chat away without worrying about your battery.
Dana's menu and cooking approach
Dana says it cooks with good ingredients and healthier methods. Its tomato sauce for pizza and pasta is simmered in-house for a long time, and olive oil—not palm oil—is used in every dish except fried items. Instead of Parmesan, they grate generous amounts of Italian Grana Padano cheese over the food. Knowing they use a slightly healthier cooking approach for guests made my stomach feel comfortable even after eating. 😚
Most pastas are in the ₩12,000 range and are made with fresh ingredients and house-made sauces. The spicy, savory Cheongyang chili bacon truffle cream pasta is said to be the most popular. The pizzas use dough pre-baked in a 30 cm wood-fired oven, roughly a standard large pizza in size, with house-simmered tomato sauce and plenty of 100% natural mozzarella. There is also baked risotto, Dana's signature crispy oven-baked dish, choice-grade flat-iron steak cooked sous vide at low temperature, and various sides.

There are four house wines, Red Rock draft beer, plus ades and soft drinks available with unlimited refills. And how could we miss the seven specially priced set menus? We chose the pizza set: gorgonzola pizza, fresh rosé pasta, cream cheese green salad, and blueberry and green grape ades.

Yogurt-cream cream cheese green salad
First out was the cream cheese green salad (₩8,000), immediately catching my eye with its delicate fragrance. Fresh romaine, red chard, and chicory came piled high, topped with onion, cherry tomatoes, sweet pineapple, and nutty sliced almonds. Thick white cream cheese and yogurt cream sauce were sprinkled over it like a soft layer of snow, making it mouthwatering before I even took a bite. 😭
I deliberated for ages between balsamic and yogurt cream, but choosing the yogurt cream was truly the right call. Its tangy sweetness woke up my appetite, and the sweet-tart yogurt cream lightly wrapped the crisp romaine and pleasantly bitter chicory, so it was not rich at all. Eat the thick cream cheese with the greens and it melts softly, bursting with deep, nutty flavor.
The sweet-tart pineapple that popped up here and there, plus the crunchy almonds that grew nuttier with every chew, meant I could not put down my fork. It could not have been better for freshening my palate before the pasta and pizza! 💕

Thick yet fresh rosé pasta
Next, the Fresh Rosé Pasta (₩12,500) arrived at the table, sending up gentle wisps of steam. 🍝🧡

The pasta, generously coated in cream sauce, was twirled into a fluffy mound, with baby greens and fine cheese powder scattered over it like snow. Two golden, crisp pieces of baguette in the middle made it even more tempting.

The moment I twirled up a forkful and took a big bite, the tomato sauce's gentle tartness and the cream sauce's rich, nutty flavor spread smoothly through my mouth.

Cream pasta can easily become too rich, but the tomato sauce brightened it perfectly, so there was no chance to get tired of it. The fresh tomato acidity and mildly sweet, savory cream went so well together that it is a flavor anyone could enjoy. 🔥

The house-made pickles on the side are practically a cheat code when your palate needs refreshing. One thin, crunchy pickle sends sweet-and-sour pickling liquid through your mouth and washes away that heavy creaminess. The noodles were springy and perfectly cooked too, so it was fun to slurp them up. 🥢

Dip the crisp baguette into the thick, rich rosé sauce, and it soaks right through the bread, leaving it crisp outside and tender within. It was so delicious I nearly screamed.. Such an irresistible dish that you will scrape up every last drop of sauce! If you are looking for a flavor everyone will love, definitely try the smooth, rich Fresh Rosé Pasta.
Blueberry and green grape ades full of fruit
When your throat starts to feel a little dry, you need a cold ade midway through, right? Just seeing the bubbles rise in the clear glass made me feel refreshed. 🌊

We had a sweet, lightly bitter blueberry ade and a green grape ade loaded with fruit. The green grape ade (₩4,000) in particular had lots of grapes at the bottom; every bite popped, filling my mouth with fresh sweetness and cutting right through the richness.
The blueberry ade (₩4,000) was another dream pairing: its deep, sweet blueberry juice and fizzy carbonation were so refreshing that I kept reaching for it. 🍇❤️

Wood-fired gorgonzola pizza dipped in honey
After wetting our throats with ade, we tried the piping-hot gorgonzola pizza (₩19,000). White cheese blanketed the thin, golden-baked dough, and because it is baked in a wood-fired oven in the Italian tradition, the crust carried a smoky fire-kissed aroma. The cheese visibly stretched in long, chewy strands the second I picked up a slice. 😭🧀
I dipped a freshly baked slice right into honey. First came the salty, tangy taste of gorgonzola, followed by a rush of deep sweetness from the honey—seriously addictive and impossible to stop eating.
The outside was golden, crisp, and nutty, while all that cheese made the flavor in my mouth smooth, clean, and mild.
The dough edge especially was cracker-crisp yet wonderfully clean, never dry or chalky, so we cleared every last bit. Properly enjoying thick rosé pasta and crisp, chewy gorgonzola pizza with my friend after work made for such a satisfying, happy dinner. 👩❤️👩
An after-work Dongseong-ro date meal with a friend
From the fresh salad to the thick rosé pasta and crisp wood-fired pizza, the flavors made such a perfect combination that I could not stop eating. With its floor-to-ceiling window view and atmospheric vibe, it was a cozy space for a Dongseong-ro date course. Next time, I am planning to return soon with my partner for a hearty beef steak.
The cream cheese green salad with yogurt cream opened up my appetite, then dipping crisp baguette into Fresh Rosé Pasta—where bright tomato and nutty cream meet—made me sigh in admiration. The ades, with whole blueberries and green grapes popping in every sip, cooled my palate, and dipping the crisp-outside, chewy-inside wood-fired gorgonzola pizza in sweet honey was simply perfection. This is for a day when you want to recharge over a hearty meal with your beloved partner, family, or friends amid an open window view and a lovely atmosphere.
