Korean BBQ combo for three near Seongshin Women's University
In short
Jangheungjip Seongshin Women's University branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in the Seongshin Women's University food alley in Seongbuk, Seoul. Three friends shared the medium combo set (₩54,000), grilling everything from chadolbagi (thinly sliced beef brisket) to frozen pork belly, then finished with the included chadol doenjang jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew) and a shared bowl of kimchi mari guksu (cold kimchi noodle soup). The medium combo alone was so filling three people could barely finish it, and the chadol doenjang jjigae was good enough to call a must-order.

I was trying to figure out where to go for meat in the Seongshin Women's University food alley when I ended up at Jangheungjip Seongshin Women's University branch. This was a dinner with my friends — three of us — and when three people want to share food, meat always wins. Jangheungjip kept coming up as a top pick for frozen pork belly near Seongshin Women's University, so we went with it!

What's the vibe like?
The drawings on the walls were so cute and nostalgic. I don't even remember it being that charming as a kid, but somehow it brought back memories haha. Total pojangmacha (street tent bar) energy.

Fun fact about Jangheungjip, the pork belly spot near Seongshin Women's University: they give you minari (water dropwort) and gosari (bracken fern) with every meat order. And they only use 100% domestic pork, slaughtered and flash-frozen the same day!!

Menu and ordering tips
Check out the menu board. They said they'll give you galchi-sokjeot (salted hairtail intestine) and wasabi gochujang if you ask. We started with the medium combo, planning to order more later — but the three of us barely finished even this.

If you leave a Naver receipt review, you can get either octopus jeotgal or a drink as a service item — don't forget to do it~~
The medium combo (₩54,000) review

Wow, the side dishes were so generous~~

There was corn salad, which I love, and the pink ham sausage that's always tasty when you get it outside. Plus various kinds of kimchi and sauces, and the minari and gosari that taste amazing grilled in pork fat><. If any side dish runs low, they'll refill it on request, so eat as much as you want!!

And the meat arrived right away!! The portion was seriously huge haha.

Starting with chadolbagi
A staff member set everything up for us. They seemed willing to grill for us too, but we prefer grilling it ourselves, so we did. We started with chadolbagi (thinly sliced beef brisket)!!

Seriously so savory and delicious. With so many side dishes, it was fun trying different combinations.

Since we were already at it, we asked for wasabi and galchi-sokjeot too, to mix things up haha.

The chadol doenjang jjigae included with the set
We'd been so distracted by the meat that we almost forgot about the chadol doenjang jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew), which comes included with the medium combo set!! This stew was amazing!! Getting doenjang jjigae right is surprisingly hard, but this one was spicy and sharp, done just right. It wasn't just called chadol doenjang jjigae in name only — it was actually packed with meat, which made it even better. I'm thinking about it again as I write this, my mouth is watering haha. If you visit Jangheungjip, definitely order this chadol doenjang jjigae.

Frozen pork belly with a good crack of pepper
After the chadolbagi, they quickly put the frozen pork belly on the grill. And you know it's basically a rule that frozen pork belly needs a good crack of black pepper. We piled it on generously.

This pink ham is so good when you have it every once in a while. If you buy it at home to eat, it just doesn't taste the same as when you eat it out.. I guess it's really something you're only supposed to enjoy occasionally, like when it shows up as a side dish at a restaurant haha. We enjoyed it plenty that day too.

Wrapping a generous amount of well-grilled minari and dunking it in the sweet-and-sour onion soy sauce is such a great combo.

I'd been craving minari grilled in meat fat anyway, and that day it was all mine><. It's so fragrant and delicious. I don't know why I couldn't eat this as a kid.. My friends still can't handle it much, so I ate it all myself — total win haha.

Finishing with kimchi mari guksu
By the time we were near the end, we were super full, but I felt like I could still manage kimchi mari guksu (kimchi noodle soup) as a palate cleanser, so we ordered one to share, and it was perfect for dessert. After eating a good amount of meat, you crave something cool and refreshing, right? The tangy, cold broth really does clear your palate. We'd debated ordering it from the start, but after eating it, I was glad we ordered one. It wasn't too much for three people to share, and it worked well as a finishing dish after the meat, sort of like a light meal in itself haha.
We ate great meat and got to catch up with my friends properly after a long time, which made the evening even more memorable. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant near Seongshin Women's University, I'd recommend stopping by Jangheungjip :)
