Thai food in Guro, Seoul: tom yum pho at Thai Du

In short

Thai Du is a Thai restaurant in Guro, Seoul, serving Thai-style noodle and rice dishes. The bright yum woon sen, spicy-sour tom yum pho, and filling pad krapow moo sap were all satisfying. Verdict: a place I’d happily revisit for a different kind of Thai meal.

Visit to Thai Du Guro Digital Complex Branch

Eating Thai food in Guro Digital Complex

I went at lunchtime, and nearby office workers just kept streaming in, you know? I could already tell this was going to be a good restaurant haha.

The interior had such an upscale Thai feel, and it was spacious enough for bigger groups! Even with people constantly coming in, there was no shortage of seats, which was so nice. And somehow eating in a space full of pretty decor put me in an even better mood >.<

Self-serve bar with pickles and onions

Best of all, for someone like me who loves piling on pickles and onions... a self-serve bar. Pure happiness.

House-made milk tea and beer menu

They also sell house-made milk tea and beers, so they’d be nice alongside the food! I looked through reviews before coming, and people were really recommending the tom yum pho. I’m usually a regular pho person, but today I went for something different!

What did yum woon sen taste like?

Yum woon sen

Yum woon sen, a Thai-style noodle salad

Yum woon sen is a Thai-style thin noodle salad! It’s made with thin noodles, vegetables such as onion and cilantro, and seafood in a sweet-and-sour dressing—and honestly, this dish was such a gem.

Yum woon sen with seafood and vegetables

It was my first time trying it, and it was absolutely perfect for someone like me who loves tangy, light food haha. I loved the freshness, with savory little hits of seafood throughout. Plus, it had my beloved cherry tomatoes—literally heaven. So, so good.

My first tom yum pho

Tom yum pho

Spicy-sour tom yum pho

Tom yum pho was the dish with the clearest, most distinctive flavor of the three! It’s a spicy-sour pho with the bright flavors of spices and maybe lemon? really coming through haha.

Tom yum pho with aromatic spices

It was my first time having tom yum itself, and I was like, oh... so this is what it tastes like. It was tastier and less intimidating than I expected, so I was very happy haha. With strongly distinctive dishes like tom yum, if your first try is somewhere that doesn’t do it well, you can end up never eating it again... 🥺 But Thai Du Guro Digital Complex Branch (타이두 구로디지털단지점) totally nailed it, so next time I’m going to try something like pu pad pong curry too!

A filling rice dish: pad krapow moo sap

Pad krapow moo sap

Pad krapow moo sap served with an egg

If you prefer rice over noodles, pad krapow moo sap is absolutely worth trying too. The stir-fried pork and egg are a great combination; the salty, savory flavor comes through, along with the nutty richness of the egg!

And as a Korean, I can’t ignore the power of rice, hahaha. It’s perfect for a filling lunch.

A spread of yum woon sen, pho, and a rice dish

Seriously, all three dishes were insanely delicious. The person I went with and I kept blurting out, “Oh, this is really good. So interesting~ We came to the right place!!” and we just could not stop eating hahahahaha.

House-made milk tea served with the meal

The house-made milk tea also tasted different from the usual store-bought kind, which I actually loved! Order one soft drink and one milk tea, and you can keep eating without getting tired of the flavors hehe.

Three Thai dishes at the table

I totally get why it’s famous as a Guro Digital Complex favorite. 👍🏻 Honestly, it was sooo delicious, and I was so happy to get the chance to try something different for once 🥺🥺 Looking at this makes me want to eat it again;; The weather’s getting cooler too—wouldn’t it be heavenly to have warm soup with tangy yum woon sen, with bites of rice in between? Go right now 🏃🏻
