When the weather turns chilly or I feel a little run-down, there’s a dish that always comes to mind. Whenever that happens, I go for samgyetang (Korean chicken soup stuffed with glutinous rice).

There’s one place I go to really often when I want samgyetang in Bucheon: Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch (오이삼계탕 부천본점), a Bucheon favorite!

I’ve already visited this great restaurant more than five times. It’s somewhere I return to whenever I’m craving samgyetang, so today I’m leaving a proper review. There are so many samgyetang places, right? I’ve tried quite a few myself, but personally, Oi Samgyetang is number one among the samgyetang I’ve had.

The chicken is especially tender because it has been simmered for a long time, and it comes generously filled with glutinous rice, so one bowl is truly satisfying. The broth is warm and rich too—it feels so comforting! That’s why Oi Samgyetang in Sang-dong naturally comes to mind whenever I want a nourishing meal.

The herbal samgyetang I order most often

Whenever I visit Oi Samgyetang, the dish I order most is, of course, the herbal samgyetang.

Those of you who love samgyetang will probably know exactly what I mean. That’s why I end up ordering the herbal samgyetang almost every time I go to Oi Samgyetang in Bucheon.

Side dishes you keep reaching for as much as the main

Another reason I love Oi Samgyetang is the side dishes! Every single one is delicious.

At many samgyetang restaurants, the main dish is good, but here I keep reaching for the side dishes too. A spoonful of samgyetang, one side dish; some chicken, another side dish. Before I know it, I’ve eaten almost all the side dishes too 😂

If you’re visiting with several people, making a reservation and ordering the boiled chicken sounds like a good idea too. The restaurant is spacious, so it works well for family gatherings. Oi Samgyetang in Sang-dong itself is roomy and comfortable. It has private rooms and group seating, making it suitable for a family meal, dining with your parents, or visiting with a larger group.

Parking is actually pretty important to me when I choose a restaurant, and the free underground parking here made it easy to visit by car.

Reservations, takeout, delivery, and group visits are all available, so it seems easy to use in whatever way suits your situation.
