I went for a drive out to Yeongjongdo after a while. After eating, I was looking around for somewhere to go and heard there was a café on Yeongjongdo famous for its desserts, so I stopped by. The desserts had a distinctly Portuguese feel, which I found striking, and they tasted great too, so I had a satisfying time. As the name suggests, the apricot black tea milk tea is a milk tea with a subtle hint of apricot added. It was sweet and easy to drink, and I think it would suit people who aren't big on coffee.

I'd personally been curious about mazagran, so I ordered it. Since it's described as Portuguese-style lemon coffee, I wanted to experience the flavor for myself. Lemon and coffee together is the kind of combination that could go either way for people. Still, the price wasn't intimidating, so if you want to try Portuguese-style lemon coffee once, it's an easy thing to attempt.

Vanilla canelé, vanilla bean egg tart and Nutella chocolate chip scone

Since it's known as a dessert spot, I ordered a variety. I agonized over the menu for a while, but all three ended up being delicious, which was satisfying. I found myself thinking that if this place were near my house, I'd come often. While I sat in the café, delivery riders kept coming and going nonstop, which made it clear why so many delivery orders come through this place.

The canelé had a soft interior and a crisp, chewy exterior that really came through. The outside wasn't too hard, which I liked even more — personally one of the best canelés I've had.

The egg tart was really delicious too. It actually felt better than one I had at a famous egg tart spot in Hong Kong. The inside was soft with a subtle vanilla bean flavor coming through, and eating it while it wasn't cold made it even better.

I'd originally planned to try the salt bread, but the scone looked so good I ordered that instead. The outside had a nice crisp, cookie-like texture, and inside you could taste the rich Nutella flavor — I enjoyed it a lot.

If you're looking for a café on Yeongjongdo to enjoy some different desserts and coffee together, I'd recommend 5PM sunset hour. From Portuguese-style lemon coffee to canelé, egg tart, and scones, I got to try a good variety, and the prices overall weren't intimidating. The desserts especially were a high point for me personally, making this a good dessert café to stop at during a drive around Yeongjongdo.
