In short
Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo (속초대일호방어) is a sashimi and sushi takeout shop on the main food alley of Sokcho Central Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. Visiting with a child, the writer picked up packed uni (sea urchin roe) sushi, eel sushi and egg sushi plus a mixed sashimi platter: the uni was plump and rich, and the child happily ate the eel and egg sushi. Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo suits families who want neat sashimi and sushi takeout at street level without heading down to the market's basement sashimi center.

[Sokcho Central Market eats] Perfect sashimi takeout to enjoy with a child: an honest review of the uni, eel and egg sushi at Daeilho Bangeo. 'Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo'

Where to get sashimi takeout with a child at Sokcho Central Market?

Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo (속초대일호방어) is a sashimi and sushi takeout shop in the food alley of Sokcho Central Market, known for its clean, neat tray packaging. Sokcho Central Market is the heart of any Sokcho trip, always full of good smells and energy. The sashimi center in the market basement is a must for fresh fish at low prices, but walking around its crowded, wet interior haggling while holding a small child's hand felt a bit much for a mom like me. So I visited Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo, a sashimi and sushi takeout shop in the market's food alley, and I'd like to share how it went.

Is Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo easy to find?
Daeilho Bangeo is on the main food alley of Sokcho Central Market (Sokcho Tourism and Fish Market), so access was very easy. Stroll along the dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) street and you'll spot a shop whose display case is sparkling and where customers line up. The case looks so fresh that everyone stops in their tracks, so I think it's easy to find.

What's on the menu at Daeilho Bangeo?
The biggest charm of Daeilho Bangeo is that everything, from mixed sashimi packs to single-type sushi and even premium uni (sea urchin roe), is packed in trays that are easy to browse at a glance. Prices also stay at the friendly level typical of a market, so it was easy to choose without worrying about the bill.
The owner was also great at recommending things and suggesting how to eat them, which helped a lot in enjoying a variety of sashimi.

How was the uni sushi at Daeilho Bangeo?
The uni sushi at Daeilho Bangeo looked plump and springy at first glance, with a lovely glow to its color. Uni lives or dies by freshness, and with even a little neglect it turns fishy and runny, so I was all the more excited.

The moment it hit my mouth, the slightly bitter, creamy, rich nuttiness of real uni spread softly, and the depth of flavor, like swallowing the whole Sokcho sea, made me gasp in admiration. With a little wasabi on top, it felt like my parenting fatigue melted away at once. I was amazed that uni of this quality could be had at a reasonable market price, and it left such an impression that I'd call it our go-to place.

Is the eel sushi good for kids, and are there bones?
The eel sushi at Daeilho Bangeo has softly steamed eel generously brushed with a sweet-salty house teriyaki sauce. It's a menu everyone from kids to grandparents likes.

I worried about small bones, but they were trimmed away perfectly, and the very soft texture stood out. A faint smoky char and the rich, nutty oiliness of the eel blended with the sweet-salty sauce, and my child cut it into big pieces and ate it with rice with no bone worries, so it was a very satisfying choice.

Is the egg sushi okay for a child who can't eat spicy food?
The egg sushi at Daeilho Bangeo has a thick slice of fluffy, sweet Japanese-style rolled omelet on top of the rice, so my child could enjoy it happily and I was satisfied. For a family with small kids, egg sushi is the most thankful thing when you go to a sashimi or sushi place.

They thoughtfully don't put the wasabi (Japanese horseradish) inside the rice but pack it separately, so even a child who can't handle anything spicy can share it. I really liked that.

Overall verdict on Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo's sashimi takeout?
Overall, I liked that at Daeilho Bangeo in Sokcho Central Market you can buy fresh sashimi and sushi in the cleanest, neatest way on the main street level, without going down into the crowded market basement.

Freshness is a given, and the menu was perfectly balanced: the egg and eel sushi made a solid meal for my child, while the uni and mixed sashimi made the parents happy.
Daeilho Bangeo was so impressive that I kept thinking about it after getting home. It felt like a true gem of Sokcho Central Market, so if you're looking for good sashimi takeout, it's worth a visit to Sokcho Daeilho Bangeo.
