Friday walk-in dinner at Jamsil Korean BBQ in Seoul: Sutbul Seonghwa
In short
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, an 8-minute walk from Seokchon Station Exit 1, and it is listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide. On a Friday at 7pm, the writer walked in without a reservation and ordered the 400g Seonghwa modum (mixed beef platter), 100% buckwheat cold noodles and Stella draft beer; staff grilled the first round. Sirloin cooked medium-rare over Chungju oak charcoal, wine-marinated rib-finger meat and buckwheat cold noodles with dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste) made Sutbul Seonghwa a satisfying Friday dinner.

Today I'm introducing a Korean BBQ restaurant I visited in Jamsil, Seoul — Sutbul Seonghwa. It's been so hot lately that I felt like my body needed an oil change, so I went for some beef!
Where is Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil? Location, hours and parking
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil / Sun–Fri 11:00–01:00, break time 15:00–17:00, last order 00:00, Sat 11:00–01:00
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is an 8-minute walk from Seokchon Station Exit 1. From Jamsil Station it's about a 15-minute walk, just so you know!
For parking, there's a free lot beside the building with no barrier gate.

The exterior looks upscale from the outside, so it's a great spot for an anniversary or a family meal.
I went on a Friday at 7pm without a reservation. If there's a wait, you register on CatchTable in front of the building and wait.

Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is also a restaurant listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide. That alone got my expectations up for great meat quality and delicious food.

Seating, dining with kids and free corkage at Sutbul Seonghwa
Seating at Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is arranged as hall tables, window tables, and private rooms — for the rooms, if you reserve ahead they'll have the table set for you so you can start eating right away. Each seat has a coat hook nearby, so you can hang up your jacket or bag.

The high chairs were also kept clean and well-maintained, so it's comfortable to visit with a baby.
It's a beef restaurant that also sells whiskey, so there's a bar with bottles lined up on display, and corkage is free.

Sutbul Seonghwa menu
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is a beef restaurant that lets you enjoy meat in various ways — there are set platters like Seonghwa modum, Happy Day modum, Special Day modum, and Light Day modum depending on your mood, and à la carte options like Seonghwa sirloin, special sirloin, skirt steak, special tenderloin, outside skirt, prawn meat, and wine-marinated short rib/flap meat. Side dishes included sea urchin, hanwoo beef tartare, double-marbled hanwoo sashimi, spicy hanwoo jjapaguri, 8-minute hanwoo doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), buckwheat bibim noodles, truffle potato chips, and fruit & cheese snacks — lots of dishes that work both as a meal and as drinking snacks.

For drinks, there's whiskey, champagne, red wine, highballs, distilled spirits, soju, and beer. The wine prices were cheaper than expected, so it seemed like it would pair well with the beef.
- Seonghwa modum 400g
- 100% buckwheat cold noodles
- Stella draft beer
- Soju

Stella draft beer
It was so hot that the moment I sat down I ordered a draft beer at lightning speed — and it was so good, haha. The temperature and carbonation were perfect.

Complimentary side dishes
The basic banchan (side dishes) included half-frozen shredded radish salad, scallion strips, white kimchi, onion sauce, wild chive greens, shiitake wasabi, water dropwort salad, wholegrain mustard sauce, wasabi, and salt. The radish salad was served half-frozen, cool and well-seasoned, so I kept going back for more.

Seonghwa modum 400g: sirloin and wine-marinated rib-finger meat
The Seonghwa modum comes as a set with Seonghwa sirloin and wine-marinated short rib, plus buttered button mushrooms on the side! Can you see the marbling and the color of the meat? I was drooling before it even hit the grill, haha.
They grill the first round for you, and after that you grill it yourself — apparently they use charcoal made the traditional way from high-quality Chungju oak.
I tend to prefer medium-rare, so I seared it lightly on both sides and dipped it in salt — the distinct aroma of beef and a hint of juice burst in my mouth.

I tried it plain and also with a combo of wild chive greens + shiitake wasabi + radish salad, but the meat itself was so good that anything went with it — GOAT.

The charcoal heat was strong, so the wine-marinated short rib cooked up quickly too.
For the wine-marinated short rib, stirring it around like in the GIF cooks the sides evenly too. The sirloin was great, but the short rib was tender with a satisfying texture, and my friend and I just kept laughing in disbelief.

100% buckwheat cold noodles: be sure to add the dadaegi
The buckwheat cold noodles come with buckwheat noodles in a half-frozen broth, topped with cucumber and egg, and the dadaegi (spicy chili paste) is served on the side. At first I wondered why they'd give me dadaegi, but the moment I mixed it in, I changed my mind and mixed the whole thing right away. You have to try it with the dadaegi!! The clean broth and buckwheat noodles were a perfect combo.
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil: is the Friday walk-in worth it?
Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil is a BBQ restaurant, but somehow the air circulation is great, because the moment I walked in the indoor temperature felt just right and cool. The upscale interior, clean tables, and friendly staff service all naturally put me in a good mood. The top-grade beef grilled over good charcoal melted in my mouth, and the cold noodles I had as a side were the perfect finish! If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Jamsil, or a meat restaurant near Seokchon Station, I recommend 'Sutbul Seonghwa Jamsil' 👍
