What's the atmosphere like at Jongga Mandu?
The restaurant is clean and fairly large, so it was comfortable to eat in. The tables are spaced generously, which made it easy to talk, and I saw all kinds of guests: families, groups of friends and office dinners.

Since it's a hot pot, the place also felt like somewhere you can sit for a long time and eat slowly.
How do you cook the clear mandu hot pot at Jongga Mandu?
What we ordered at Jongga Mandu was the clear mandu hot pot, with the deep, savory flavor of a seafood broth.

When you order the clear mandu hot pot, the kalguksu noodles, vegetables and meat, and dumplings come out right away like this. Once the broth is boiling, you put the dumplings in!

The staff make the dumplings by hand right there, and foreigners passing outside the shop kept stopping to take photos, as if it were fascinating! I snapped a shot of them working quickly too.

Once the dumplings are partly cooked, you add the vegetables and meat all at once! They cook quickly, so there's no long wait before you can eat, which I liked.

The seafood broth of the clear mandu hot pot
With the first spoonful of the broth, what hit me first was the clean yet deep savory flavor typical of a seafood broth. It's richly simmered but not harsh, just light, so I kept eating without feeling weighed down.
It isn't a broth heavy on seasoning; the refreshing flavor of the ingredients comes through, so I think people of all ages would like it. As it boiled, the vegetables and dumplings blended together naturally for an even deeper flavor, and I was impressed that it stayed clean-tasting and never got tiresome to the end.
Are the mandu at Jongga Mandu really full?
The dumplings, the stars of the hot pot, were really satisfying too. They looked handmade, and the wrappers weren't too thick so the texture was nice. Biting in, they were packed with meat and vegetables, so they were great to chew.

They went well with the light broth and brought out the dumplings' own flavor. They didn't burst easily even after boiling in the broth for a long time, so I could enjoy them to the very end.
Is the clear mandu hot pot okay for kids or parents?
The clear mandu hot pot at Jongga Mandu is neither spicy nor salty, so it was easy on the stomach. There's so much strongly flavored food these days, and I think this would be good to bring kids to, and parents would be very happy with it too.

It was just right when I wanted a hearty meal, and it didn't feel heavy afterward, which made me even happier. The natural savory depth from the seafood broth meant I finished the broth down to the last drop.
Finally, adding the kalguksu noodles to finish made it a really full, satisfying meal.
