Why I came to Low Five Sinpung
Low Five Sinpung (로우파이브 신풍) is a Western restaurant in Haenggung-dong that I only knew about because my wife's sister raved about it so much. She said the Low Five corn pizza was the pizza of her life and kept going, "Let's go, let's go!" Then the chance finally came, and my wife and I were so curious that we went.
Low Five Sinpung is also famous as a Haenggung-dong date spot, and I'd heard people queue up to eat there. So I dropped our kid off at daycare, parked in a flash, and went straight for the open-run!!

Low Five Sinpung open-run: what time should you go?
Low Five Sinpung opens at 11:30. We showed up 10 minutes before opening, and 4 parties had already registered ahead of us.

Inside Low Five Sinpung
One reason Low Five Sinpung is famous as a Haenggung-dong date spot is the atmosphere inside. Pretty great, right?

The tables further in look like they'd feel really nice for a girls' get-together over a meal! Plates, cutlery and jalapeños are set out for you by default, like this.

The four dishes we ordered at Low Five Sinpung
That day at Low Five Sinpung we ordered the Alfredo cream pasta, the corn pizza, the hot pot pesce pasta and the avocado kimchi fried rice. While we chatted and waited, the dishes came out one by one, and first up was the Alfredo cream pasta!

The Alfredo cream pasta is a spicy cream-based pasta topped with grilled bacon, and since they can leave out the spice, it seems like a good one to bring a baby to. Then the signature corn pizza arrived next!

Wow, so this is the corn pizza my sister-in-law praised to the skies! And the hot pot pesce pasta, which any Korean is bound to love, came out too.

And as a side, the avocado kimchi fried rice that everyone says you must try!

Wow, the Low Five dishes look absolutely killer!

How does the "pizza of her life" corn pizza at Low Five taste?
The Low Five corn pizza tastes like that crowd-pleasing corn cheese from a Japanese-style izakaya, plus a subtle truffle aroma and seasoning. Of course we went for the signature corn pizza first, before it cooled! Honestly you can tell just by looking that this can't be bad, right?

One bite and there's that izakaya corn cheese flavor with a lovely subtle truffle aroma and seasoning, and wow, the pizza bread here is genuinely delicious too! Now that I've tried it, I get why my sister-in-law praised it so much. *nod nod*
Alfredo cream pasta: shrimp, bacon and spicy cream
The Alfredo cream pasta pairs plump shrimp and grilled bacon with a spicy cream, which cuts the richness, keeps the shrimp's texture alive, and the bacon isn't salty, so it all works together really well. Without the spice, the bacon, shrimp and nutty cream would probably be a hit with kids too!
Hot pot pesce pasta: mussels, clams and a savory broth
Next up, the spicy pesce pasta!

The hot pot pesce pasta also has mussels and clams in it, and the savory depth of the broth is excellent.

The corn pizza has whole corn kernels on it for even better texture, with white truffle cream and a salty, Mexican-style seasoning.

The Low Five corn pizza had such good bread that we ate even the crust ends. And then there's the side that so many people strongly recommend ordering at Low Five: the avocado kimchi fried rice!

Avocado kimchi fried rice: kimchi rice mellowed by scrambled eggs
The avocado kimchi fried rice is kimchi fried rice topped with fluffy scrambled eggs and avocado. Wow, what a look! The kimchi fried rice underneath is stir-fried really well, and with the soft scramble and avocado alongside, the punchy kimchi rice gets mellowed out and tastes great.

Personally, the Alfredo cream pasta was the one my hand kept going back to. I love the thick, rich texture of that spicy cream base. And the hot pot pesce pasta, well, what can I even say.

Do Low Five Sinpung's pizza and pasta get tiresome together?
The Low Five Sinpung dishes have a good spiciness and the combination works so well that eating pizza and pasta together never got tiresome. The kimchi fried rice was good too, so we kept taking turns shoveling things into our mouths, haha. Cream pasta, then pesce pasta, and so on.
Normally at a pasta place, ordering pasta and pizza together gets a bit heavy, but the Low Five dishes had no such problem; you just keep reaching for more. Even while writing this review, I want that delicious corn pizza again..

The corn pizza is great, but the Low Five dough is so good that I even caught myself thinking I'd like to eat just the dough.. haha. The kimchi fried rice, how should I put it, is the kind of flavor that keeps you from getting sick of the Western dishes.
Also, the kimchi fried rice is so punchy that I figured it would overpower the pasta that followed, but the avocado and scramble soften the taste so nothing clashes. The pesce pasta has such a tasty broth that you keep going back for it, haha.

Chatting with my wife and her sister while eating away. The three of us, haha, cleaned the table without leaving anything!

Is Low Five Sinpung good for a Haenggung-dong date lunch?
After trying the corn pizza my sister-in-law raved about, I fully accept that Low Five Sinpung is a great pizza place! The atmosphere is wonderful too, so lunch here on a Haenggung-dong date would be lovely.
All the Western dishes at Low Five were so tasty, and the staff looked after us really kindly, so it seems perfect for a Haenggung-dong date. The atmosphere is so good that I'm planning to bring my mother-in-law another time, so I was very satisfied!!
