Truffle open toast and rigatoni rosé at Kueodeukkutteu, Suwon
In short
Kueodeukkutteu is a Western restaurant with 1st and 2nd floor terraces on Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Arriving on a Sunday at 2pm with no wait, the writer had truffle white ragu open toast, shrimp rosé pasta and perilla seed ice cream, with the open toast's generous sauce the standout dish. A good pick for combining a Haenggung-dong outing with a solid meal.

The skies have been so pretty lately, and last weekend, with weather this good, I found myself thinking of Haenggung-dong ᐧ༚̮ᐧ There are so many good restaurants and pretty spots there that I had a hard time deciding where to eat, until I found "Kueodeukkutteu."

Any wait on a Sunday at 2pm?

We visited on a Sunday at 2pm! Since it was a little past the weekend lunch rush, we got a table with no wait and plenty of room.
1st and 2nd floor seating and terrace vibe

The whole place was full of Haenggung-dong charm, and since it's a two-story building, the seating was split across several different spaces 🌿

There's terrace seating too, so on nice-weather days I imagine the terrace tables get even more popular than the indoor ones.
You can use the restroom without stepping outside the building, too! Though it being unisex was a bit of a downside... !
QR ordering and the self-serve zone

Ordering was convenient with the QR code right at the table.

There's a brunch menu, and you can also just order coffee 🙆🏻♀️ We ordered ✔️truffle white ragu open toast ✔️shrimp rosé pasta ✔️perilla seed ice cream.

You can order dessert together with the rest, but also have it brought later via [QR order – call staff]. QR-savvy (>_<)⸝ ʕᦏ⌎

SELF ZONE — water, wet wipes and tissues are self-serve.

The food came out fast.
How the truffle white ragu open toast tastes

Truffle white ragu open toast. The name alone was unusual enough to make me curious.

Unlike a typical toast dish, the white ragu and truffle aroma added a nutty, savory depth. Eating it with the bread, the sauce's flavor came through beautifully, and even though it's a brunch item it was surprisingly filling. Above all, the amount of sauce was incredibly generous! We wondered if we should order extra bread, but we were already full so we didn't.
Shrimp rosé pasta made with rigatoni

Shrimp rosé pasta. With shrimp in a soft rosé sauce, it paired nicely alongside the open toast.
Since it's made with rigatoni, the sauce got right into the pasta tubes, so every bite carried the rosé flavor well. The chewy, springy texture gave it a different feel from a typical long-noodle rosé pasta,

and it went great with the plump shrimp. It was easy to spear the pasta with a fork, and just as easy to scoop up with the sauce. Personally, of everything we had that day, the truffle white ragu open toast stuck with me a bit more!
Dessert: perilla seed ice cream

For dessert we ordered the perilla seed ice cream. Perilla and ice cream together made me curious what it would taste like at first.

The fragrant perilla oil aroma, the texture of whole perilla seeds, the smooth vanilla ice cream, and the salty Maldon salt all came together really well. Sweet dessert after a meal is exactly the right way to finish — we even thought about ordering coffee too, but we were eager to go explore Haenggung-dong so we got up, a little reluctantly.
Saving this as a Haenggung-dong restaurant recommendation I'd like to revisit with my kid next time. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the Haenggung-dong atmosphere and get a good meal in at the same time, give Kueodeukkutteu a try.
