I was looking for somewhere to eat lunch in Seohyeon, and! I remembered enjoying a meal at another Okdengjang branch, so I ended up visiting Okdengjang Seohyeon Branch.

I'd been craving Korean food for a while, and it's nice that a place like Okdengjang has such a variety of Korean dishes. Lately I've been eating a lot of spicy, heavy food, so sometimes I crave something warm and filling like a hot soup with boiled pork — Okdengjang seems perfect for exactly that kind of day!

What's in Okdengjang Seohyeon's Feast Set for 3, and what it costs
The Feast Set for 3 at Okdengjang Seohyeon Branch comes with three dishes — mixed boiled pork hot pot, squid minari (water celery) pancake, and mixed boiled pork salad — for a total of 59,000 won. They also sell lunch specials, and it seems like a lot of people order things like the doenjang (soybean paste) hot pot at lunchtime. But I really wanted the boiled pork hot pot, so I went with the set!

Mixed boiled pork hot pot, best eaten piping hot

The mixed boiled pork hot pot was the dish I was most looking forward to from the set! It's a hot pot loaded with boiled pork, galbi (short rib), beef tendon, and other ingredients, plus minari and glass noodles too — the ingredients are seriously generous.
All the meat comes fully cooked, so you can dig in right away, which made for a convenient meal. Once you boil the broth hard to get it piping hot, the minari fragrance soaks into it and it instantly makes you want soju haha... The broth is honestly a masterpiece!!

The galbi in the hot pot was so tender it easily separated from the bone, and dipping it in the sauce made it even more delicious. The other cuts of meat were also so tender and soft that I just kept eating without any hesitation.

My favorite combo was wrapping the boiled pork with salted shrimp, garlic, and minari into a little meat wrap, then dipping it in soy sauce — absolutely the best... It went so well with the side dishes too, so I'm definitely ordering the boiled pork hot pot again on my next visit!!
Tangy boiled pork salad that wakes up the appetite

The mixed boiled pork salad is different from eating boiled pork plain — it's tossed with vegetables, giving it a different charm from the hot pot. The tender pork and chewy beef tendon mixed with crunchy vegetables gave it great texture, and the sweet-and-tangy seasoning really woke up my appetite, if that makes sense?!

After eating the warm boiled pork hot pot, having something with more varied texture and flavor like the pork salad to give your mouth a bit of a kick worked really well — the set combo went together nicely. I'm not usually a fan of beef tendon, but the tendon in the pork salad kept me reaching for more, it fit so well and was so tasty!
Crispy, fragrant squid minari pancake

Personally I like pretty much every kind of jeon (Korean savory pancake) except bindaetteok, so I was looking forward to this one — it's loaded with squid, and the whole pancake is made with minari, giving it a different feel from a typical jeon, which made it a dish I really enjoyed.

You could subtly taste the distinctive minari fragrance, and biting into the plump squid added even more texture variety, which was great. The amount of squid was seriously huge..!

It came freshly fried, so it was perfectly crispy outside and soft inside. The set order — a soupy dish first, then the salad to wake up the palate, finishing with the pancake — was a perfect combination!
Why this set works as a hearty Seohyeon lunch
The owner was really kind too, and since the set lets you eat meat, jeon, and salad all together, it would suit anyone who wants to try a bit of a lot of different dishes. With Korean food especially, picking just one wrong dish can leave you with an awkward portion size or repeating flavors, which can be disappointing — but here, the dishes are all different from each other while still going well together, so there was none of that disappointment!
If you're looking for a filling, restorative Seohyeon lunch, I'd recommend Okdengjang Seohyeon Branch with its warm boiled pork hot pot! (Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend the Feast Set for 2 haha)
