What kind of place is Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch?
Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch (정원막창 부산본점) is a makchang restaurant in Guseo-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, famous as a spot for company dinners. If you're looking for good makchang (grilled pork intestine) in Busan, you should definitely remember this place.
I went with my husband this time, and I got right away why so many people come. It has a big reputation among office workers as the Guseo-dong place for group dinners. There seem to be so many great meat restaurants in Guseo-dong!

Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch location and opening hours
Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch is at 433 Geumgang-ro, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, 1st floor, 279 m from Exit 1 of Guseo Station. It is open from 17:00 to 24:00 and closed every Tuesday.
It's close to Guseo Market
It's close to Guseo Market too, so it's really easy to get to. It's good for a family meal and perfect for meeting friends or a company dinner.
How does Jeongwon Makchang in Busan compare with Daegu makchang?
The makchang at Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch had almost no gamey smell and was clean and chewy. When people think of makchang, Daegu usually comes to mind first, because it has such a strong image as the home of makchang. But personally, I liked the makchang here in Busan even more. It was much cleaner, and the chewy texture really came through.
They gave us Matgicha corn jjondeugi as a freebie!! So tasty
Especially with almost no gamey smell, I could eat comfortably. They say the restaurant uses fresh raw makchang brought in directly from Daegu. And it isn't used as is: it's aged for 3 days in fresh fruit, they say. Maybe that's why the texture was so tender. The more I chewed, the more nutty flavor came up, and there was almost none of that typical makchang smell.

What comes in the Jeongwon Set?
The Jeongwon Set at Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch comes with boiled pork makchang and pork belly together. On this visit I ordered the Jeongwon Set.
I ordered the Jeongwon Set
From the first bite I understood why this place is so popular. It's nice to enjoy a variety instead of just one dish. Alternating between makchang and pork belly made everything tastier. And there was one thing I was personally happiest about: the meat is served pre-grilled (chobeol).

The Jeongwon Set arrives pre-grilled, so it cooks fast
Because Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch serves the makchang pre-grilled, you only need to give it a little more time on the grill before eating. At meat restaurants grilling usually takes forever, right? But here it turns golden brown after just a short while. The smell as it cooked on the grill was wonderful. Crispy outside and chewy inside, the texture was really great.

A makchang specialist with great pork belly too
The pork belly is thick and delicious too
The pork belly in the Jeongwon Set was better than I expected. It had a good thickness and was full of juice. The nutty flavor really came through, and it was as tasty as the makchang. I was satisfied that a makchang specialist makes pork belly this good.
What's on the self-serve bar at Jeongwon Makchang?
The self-bar at Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch has vegetables like lettuce and perilla leaves, side dishes, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and even mussels. The self-bar was really well stocked, with lettuce, perilla leaves and lots of side dishes.

Fresh vegetables, and a self-bar with tteokbokki and mussels
Above all, the vegetables were fresh, which put me in a good mood. If you run out, you can grab more without feeling awkward.
Is Jeongwon Makchang good for a company dinner in Guseo-dong?
The tables at Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch are spaced widely, so it looked great for a group dinner. The atmosphere was nice too. When I visited, there were plenty of groups of office workers.

The Guseo-dong spot for company dinners
I immediately understood why it's famous as the Guseo-dong place for company dinners.
Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch menu
Besides the standard makchang, Jeongwon Makchang Busan Main Branch has beef makchang and spicy beef makchang, plus pork belly and beef short rib finger meat. The menu is varied, so you can pick according to your taste.
