I went to Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch while looking for a good sashimi place in Jamsil! I love aged sashimi and had it saved for a while, and I liked that the omakase spread lets you enjoy aged sashimi along with lots of other dishes. It's also well known as a good place for gatherings, so I finally went.
Is Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch a good place for a families' first meeting or a group gathering?
Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch has wide table spacing and a separate private room at the back, so it works well for a families' first meeting before a wedding (sanggyeollye), a blind date or a company dinner. It's at 27 Baekjegobun-ro 7-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the space between tables! When tables are packed together you often feel self-conscious while talking, but Namhae Fish uses its space generously, so it's easy to chat with your group. There was also a private room set up at the back.
It looked fine for family gatherings, company dinners and small get-togethers, and since the food comes out neat and tidy one dish at a time, I thought it would suit occasions that call for a bit of formality, like a blind date or a families' first meeting.
What's on the menu at Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch?
Besides the aged sashimi omakase, Namhae Fish has meal sets such as the soy-marinated crab set and the mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) set, and at lunch it also sells a sashimi set, a sushi set, sushi and a mulhoe set. I ordered the aged sashimi omakase spread, where you can enjoy lots of different dishes together.

The meal menu is so varied that it seemed like a good place to drop by for lunch too.
In what order does the aged sashimi omakase spread come out?
The Namhae Fish aged sashimi omakase spread started with starter porridge, then went through aged sashimi, ankimo (monkfish liver), abalone, futomaki (thick sushi roll) and soy-marinated shrimp sushi, mulhoe, and gwabaro-u (Chinese-style sweet and sour pork), braised flatfish and pasta, and finished with beef shabu-shabu.

The starter porridge came out first. It was gentle on the stomach and a nice way to begin the meal, and then the aged sashimi was ready.
Kelp-aged sashimi in low-temperature cheongju

Namhae Fish uses sashimi aged with kelp in low-temperature cheongju (rice wine), and I heard it's aged twice! It stayed chewy yet felt soft as I bit into it, so the texture was really good, and the savory depth got stronger the more I chewed. Anyone who likes aged sashimi will love this quality!

Ankimo and abalone
Personally, the dish I was happiest to see was the ankimo! It's something I like anyway, so I was glad it was part of the lineup. The rich, nutty flavor melted softly in my mouth, and it went really well with the aged sashimi.

And of course there's abalone. Chewy yet tender, it tasted fresh, and the texture got better the more I chewed!

Futomaki, soy-marinated shrimp sushi and summer mulhoe
The futomaki and the soy-marinated shrimp sushi were nice to eat one piece at a time. The lineup kept changing along the way, so I never got tired of it until the end!
It was a hot summer day, so the cool mulhoe was even more welcome. Taking a bite of mulhoe in between the aged sashimi felt like it cleaned up my whole mouth, haha.

Gwabaro-u, braised flatfish and pasta
It carried on with gwabaro-u, braised flatfish and pasta, and I liked how full the lineup was, with a charm different from sashimi places where the meal ends with raw fish. The braised flatfish in particular was really tender!

Finishing with beef shabu-shabu
The last dish was beef shabu-shabu. I'd already had plenty of sashimi, but with shabu-shabu on top it was more than enough for a meal!? No, actually I felt like I was going to burst, lol. The broth was clean and the meat was tender, so I enjoyed it all the way to the end!
Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch: overall review

If you're looking for a good aged sashimi place in Jamsil, I highly recommend Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch! The sashimi, finished with low-temperature cheongju kelp aging, had a really good texture, and beyond the raw fish there was mulhoe, futomaki, soy-marinated shrimp sushi and shabu-shabu, so I enjoyed it all the way to the last bite.
The table spacing is wide, so it was easy to talk, and with a private room available, this Jamsilsaenae sashimi restaurant suits family gatherings, company dinners and small get-togethers, as well as important meals like a blind date or a families' first meeting!
