Suji shabu-kalguksu: Catch Table waitlist, mushroom add-on, Yun Ujae
In short
Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch (윤우재 샤브칼국수 고기동점) is a shabu-kalguksu restaurant serving shabu-shabu hot pot with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) in Gogi-ri, Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. On a weekday lunch with a close friend, the writer joined the Catch Table remote waitlist, ordered red beef-bone broth shabu-kalguksu for 2, added 140g of sirloin and a mushroom and water dropwort platter, then finished with noodles and fried rice. At a flat 11,500 won per person for lunch or dinner with generous portions, Yun Ujae is a good-value spot for a lunch get-together.

Today I went for lunch with a close friend to Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu (윤우재 샤브칼국수), a famous spot in Gogi-ri, Yongin :)

Yun Ujae Gogidong Branch: location, hours and parking
Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch is at 3 Gogi-ro 173beon-gil, Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, South Korea (1st floor), and it's open daily 11:00–20:50. Break time is 15:00–16:30 and last order is at 20:00. There's parking in front of the building, and they have baby chairs too.

There's plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant, so parking wasn't hard at all! [Note the roadside parking enforcement grace period on weekdays, 11:30–14:00]

A wait even on a weekday lunch? Catch Table remote waitlist
We visited on a weekday lunch and there was still a wait, but you can join the line remotely through Catch Table. Even on a weekday lunch there was a wait, haha... I guess a good restaurant is a good restaurant.
We joined the waitlist on Catch Table, filled out our order slip while waiting, and went in when our turn came, hehe (please check Catch Table before you visit!)

Inside Yun Ujae and group dining
The inside of Yun Ujae Gogidong Branch is clean and spacious, and there were so many groups of friends, coworkers and families! They say groups are welcome, so it looks like a good spot for a get-together too :)

Shabu-kalguksu price: ₩11,500 per person, flat at lunch and dinner
The biggest plus of Yun Ujae, a favorite in Dongcheon-dong, is that shabu-kalguksu is a flat ₩11,500 per person whether it's lunch or dinner!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (With prices these days, is this price for real..?)
We ordered shabu-kalguksu (₩11,500) for 2 and chose the red beef-bone broth 🌶️ After our name was called we were shown to an open room, and the shabu-shabu came out before long ღღღ

How the red beef-bone broth shabu-shabu tastes
The red beef-bone broth at Yun Ujae was rich and spicy, and you eat the meat with water dropwort (minari, a fragrant leafy herb) and wasabi soy sauce. Once it starts bubbling, you dip the meat briefly in the broth and take a bite with the minari and wasabi soy sauce...!! The rich, spicy broth alone was really delicious.. mmm
Add the scent of minari and it was fragrant and clean, just perfect 💕

Extra orders: 140g sirloin and the mushroom-water dropwort platter
What we added at Yun Ujae was extra sirloin 140g (₩8,000) and the mushroom-water dropwort platter (₩5,000). It was so good we ordered more right away, lol hahahahahahaha
- Extra sirloin 140g (₩8,000)
- Mushroom-water dropwort platter (₩5,000)
Adding extra meat is the golden rule, isn't it...?? Hehe. The mushroom-water dropwort platter made the vegetable broth deeper and the pot fuller, so I was really glad we added it 👍🏻

Finishing with flat kalguksu noodles and fried rice
At Yun Ujae, once you've eaten a fair amount of shabu-shabu, they add flat kalguksu noodles and boil them for you! The flat noodles were super chewy and soaked up the rich broth, so the texture was great and they were really delicious..♥ Wrap them together with the shabu-shabu and they vanish in a slurp, absolutely amazing, I'm tearing up ㅠㅠ

Finally we scraped up every last bit of the fried rice to finish >< With minari, kimchi, seaweed flakes and sesame oil, it was so nutty that my spoon kept going back for more, hahahahahahaha
Yun Ujae shabu-kalguksu: how was the portion for the price?
Taste aside, the portions at Yun Ujae are really generous for the price, and we walked out patting our full bellies, hehe. Chatting with my friend after so long over hot broth, meat, noodles and fried rice made it a very happy lunch 😚
By the way, if you follow the restaurant on Naver Place and leave a receipt review, there's a coupon for a free drink, so be sure to grab it before you go, hehe. On days when you crave hot, hearty shabu-kalguksu, I recommend Yun Ujae in Gogi-ri, Suji, Yongin 💕
