Today I'm writing up my visit to a Meokgol Station favorite, Yukyeon Sikdang Mukdong branch (육연식당 묵동본점), a spot I ended up at after work when I suddenly craved good food and a drink.
I was looking for somewhere I could comfortably eat and drink alone — fresh yukhoe and salmon — and I found this hidden gem.
The value for money is genuinely excellent, so I want to strongly recommend it to anyone who, like me, enjoys drinking solo.
What is on the menu at Yukyeon Sikdang Mukdong branch?
The menu at Yukyeon Sikdang Mukdong branch is packed with yukhoe (raw beef), salmon, and side dishes. The moment I walked in, I liked the clean, cozy atmosphere.
There's even an all-you-can-eat option for anyone who's really hungry, which widened my options quite a bit haha.

It felt like maybe a bit much for one person, but the prices were so reasonable I wanted to try a bit of everything.
As a starter, they brought out warm beef and seaweed soup, which was a nice way to warm up my stomach before everything else. So good.
How fresh are the top-grade yukhoe and salmon sushi?
The dishes came out one by one, and the presentation exceeded my expectations from the start.
True to the owner's promise of using same-day ingredients to keep things fresh, I could really taste that freshness in every bite.

Top-grade yukhoe: the vivid red color of the raw beef looked genuinely fresh.
Mixed with the pear, radish sprouts, cheese, and sauces that came alongside, the nutty, savory flavors exploded in my mouth. Not to mention the chewy texture.
I mixed it all together like this and enjoyed every bite.
Yukhoe is always such a great soju pairing. Clean soju flavor to match.
I sipped on my Saero like dew.
Salmon sushi: thick cuts of salmon topped with onion, sauce, and flying fish roe gave it a really varied texture.
The salmon's soft texture just melted in my mouth, and the rich flavor of the fatty fish spread through my mouth — genuinely happy-making.
Fried shrimp: five pieces, freshly fried, piping hot with a fantastic crispy texture.
Dipped in the accompanying tartar sauce, it doesn't get much better as a solo drinking snack.

If you're looking for a Meokgol Station favorite, Meokgol Station yukhoe, or a spot near Taereung Ipgu, I recommend Yukyeon Sikdang Mukdong branch.
Being able to enjoy fresh, delicious yukhoe and salmon at such reasonable prices is genuinely appealing.
What I loved most was that even visiting alone, I could comfortably eat and drink without feeling awkward. The hygiene, cleanliness, and the care put into both the food and the service all made for a satisfying time. I can see myself stopping by often on my way home from work for solo drinking sessions. Hehe.
There were also plenty of perks for visitors — you can get extra benefits through a review event, and takeout, reservations, and delivery are all available, so you can enjoy it comfortably at home too.
