It had been a while, but Mom and I finally found an evening that worked for both of us, so we went out to eat around Munjeong-dong. That day I wanted something healthy but filling, so we headed to Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong (고메무이 송파문정점), where you can enjoy Japanese-style pot rice.

First of all, Gome Mui offers free parking, so it was easy to come by car, and the menu was varied too. I was really happy with this Japanese restaurant near Munjeong Station~
Where is Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, and is there parking?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is in Terra Tower by Munjeong Station, and the Terra Tower building offers free parking. It's also a decent spot for office workers nearby to have lunch or dinner.

Parking is always a worry when you drive, so being able to park for free made the meal much more relaxing, with no parking fee to fret over. The restaurant is also in the basement, inside the building and connected to the outside, so it'd be a good place to visit even on bad-weather days.

If you're looking for a clean, tidy Japanese meal near Munjeong Station, or you're craving warm pot rice instead of your usual menu, this is a good restaurant to try.
Seating for solo diners and family meals
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong has everything from solo counter seats to tables for 2, tables for 4 and group seating.

The inside had a more varied seating layout than I expected: solo counter seats that are great for eating alone, plus tables for 2, tables for 4 and group seating. I liked that it suits so many situations, from office workers eating solo to meals with friends or family outings.

Since it was just Mom and me, we took a table for 4 where we could eat comfortably. When you eat alone you tend to worry a bit about other people's glances and the seating layout, but Gome Mui has separate solo seats, so it looked fine for anyone searching for a place to eat alone too.
Two pot rice dishes picked with Mom: salmon soboro and abalone
At Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, Mom and I ordered one salmon soboro pot rice and one abalone pot rice.

Gome Mui had several kinds of pot rice on the menu. After some deliberating, we went with the salmon soboro pot rice and the abalone pot rice.

What does the salmon soboro pot rice taste like?
The salmon soboro pot rice (soboro is crumbled, seasoned egg) pairs mild salmon with soft egg soboro, and you eat it with popping flying fish roe and a house special sauce, so each ingredient gives a different texture. It's an easy pick if you like salmon and egg. I think it would also suit anyone who prefers a meal where several ingredients blend together nicely over something strongly seasoned.

Abalone pot rice, a good pick for parents
The abalone pot rice we ordered with it caught my eye because it was packed with abalone. If you're visiting with parents who like seafood such as abalone, it's a good choice. Even when picking a meal with Mom, our tastes differ a little, so I liked that ordering two different pot rice dishes meant we weren't limited to just one~
The charm of Japanese pot rice: you even get to enjoy the nurungji
What I found appealing about Gome Mui's Japanese pot rice is that you eat the rice and toppings together, then finish the meal with nurungji (scorched rice) too.

Another plus was that there's an option both for people who like soft ingredients such as salmon and egg soboro and for people who prefer a dish generously loaded with seafood like abalone.

Above all, pot rice is great as a solo meal, and it's also perfect for sharing when family members each order something different, right? If you're a bit tired of the same old meals around Munjeong Station, a warm pot of rice could make for a refreshing dinner~
Verdict: a pot rice restaurant good for family meals at Munjeong Station's Terra Tower

Since it was a dinner with Mom after a long time, I put thought into choosing the menu, and I was glad to enjoy Japanese pot rice at Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong. What impressed me was being able to choose to taste, from the salmon soboro pot rice with mild salmon, egg soboro, flying fish roe and special sauce to the abalone pot rice packed with abalone.
With free parking in the Terra Tower building and seating from solo counter seats to group tables, it's worth considering for solo meals and family outings alike. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant near Munjeong Station or a good eatery in Munjeong's Terra Tower, enjoy a warm pot rice meal at Gome Mui. It's a pot rice spot worth visiting on a day when you want something hearty~
