Kids Set A at a kid-friendly Hapjeong restaurant: Saeng Augustine

This time I went with my family to Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch. I've always liked Saeng Augustine because you can get so many different Asian dishes in one place — poo pad pong curry, pho, fried rice — and this time I brought my kid along and ordered Kids Set A.

Bottom line up front: I didn't have to think separately about what my kid would eat, and I still got to eat the poo pad pong curry I love, all in one order. It was a pretty solid choice for a family meal. I especially scraped the curry sauce clean off the plate haha 😆

Where is Saeng Augustine Hapjeong? Connected straight to Hapjeong Station

Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is inside Mecenatpolis, directly connected to Hapjeong Station, so it was easy to get to by public transit.

You just head toward Mecenatpolis Mall between exits 9 and 10 of Hapjeong Station, and I liked that you can walk straight there from the subway even on a rainy or bad-weather day.

If you drive, you can use the mall parking lot too, with 3.5 hours free, which took some of the pressure off a family outing. For anyone looking for a restaurant near Hapjeong with parking, this seems like a pretty big plus.

A spacious dining room that suits family gatherings

Walking in, the restaurant was much bigger than I expected.

The tables were spaced comfortably apart, and there were seats big enough for larger groups, so along with tables like ours — families with kids — I also spotted groups of friends and family gatherings. So among Hapjeong restaurants, this seems like a good option for family get-togethers, staff dinners, or meetups with several people, like a wedding invitation gathering.

And the important thing when you're going with a kid — baby chairs were ready. Little details like this matter a lot when you're dining out with a child.

What comes in Kids Set A, and how much does it cost?

We ordered Kids Set A for ₩66,000. It's a set with four dishes: tteotmankung (fried whole shrimp) + poo pad pong curry + pho + shrimp fried rice.

Going with a kid, it's hard to just order the spicy dishes I want, so I liked that this set included fried rice, pho, and fried shrimp — dishes that are easy for a kid to eat.

I also liked not having to think through separate single dishes for each of us, and getting to taste a little of several menu items.

The dishes the child ate most: shrimp and crab fried rice and tod mun kung

As expected, the dishes my kid ate best were the shrimp crab fried rice and the tteotmankung. The fried rice has shrimp, egg, and vegetables in it, and overall it wasn't too strongly flavored, so it was easy for a kid to eat.

The shrimp were visible too, so there was fun in picking them out haha. And then, tteotmankung! (fried whole shrimp)

It's crispy on the outside and has a soft shrimp texture inside, so my kid really enjoyed it. Dipped in the sweet sauce that comes with it, it worked well for adult tastes too.

If you're going to Saeng Augustine with a kid, this dish is a pretty solid pick!

Best dish in the set: poo pad pong curry

And honestly... when I go to Saeng Augustine, I go for the poo pad pong curry haha.

It's already a dish I love, and this time it hit exactly my style again. The curry sauce is soft and rich, blended with moist egg, and it has that distinct curry aroma without being overpowering, so I kept going back for more. Above all, the sauce is genuinely delicious.

Eating the crispy-cooked crab together with the soft curry sauce hit that savory, slightly sweet, slightly salty combination just right. In the end I scraped the leftover sauce off the plate with my spoon. 😂

Personally, the winner of this set was definitely the poo pad pong curry.

Vietnamese pho makes the set a balanced meal

The Vietnamese pho that came with the set also helped balance out the whole set.

After the curry and fried rice, which can start to feel a bit rich, sipping the warm pho broth in between felt like it reset my palate. It came generously topped with onion and meat too, which I liked.

After trying all four dishes, the combination of the rich poo pad pong curry, shrimp fried rice, clean-broth pho, and crispy tteotmankung worked better together than I expected.

Why Saeng Augustine's wide menu suits larger groups

😊 Saeng Augustine isn't just Thai food — there's pho, nasi goreng, tom yum goong, som tam, fried rice, seafood and meat dishes, plenty of options. They say around 60 dishes are on offer, which makes it a good pick for families or friend groups with different tastes, since everyone can pick what they want.

There's also draft beer, wine, and highballs on the drinks menu, so it seemed like a good option for a dinner gathering or staff dinner too.

Final verdict on Saeng Augustine as a family restaurant near Hapjeong Station

Visiting with my family this time, I understood why Saeng Augustine is a restaurant people keep coming back to. The convenient location directly connected to Hapjeong Station, 3.5 hours of free parking, a spacious dining room and baby chairs, and a menu lineup that works for both kids and adults.

In particular, the Kids Set A we ordered had the shrimp fried rice and tteotmankung my kid loved, plus the poo pad pong curry I love, so it was a high-satisfaction pick for a family meal. And the poo pad pong curry... I'll order it again next time haha. That sauce was really my style. 💕
