The weather was so nice the other day that I took a casual stroll along Gyeongui Line Forest Park~ Somewhere along the way I got hungry and started wondering where to have a good meal, so I headed to a trendy burger place nearby that everyone's been talking about. It's Bored & Hungry Mapo, famous as a Daeheung Station and Gyeongui Line Forest Park stop! You can enjoy handmade burgers in a hip space while looking out at the quiet view of the forest park ❤️

How do you get to Bored & Hungry Mapo from Daeheung Station?

Bored & Hungry Mapo is a 4-minute walk from Daeheung Station Exit 4, so it's really easy to reach. The address is 36 Gwangseong-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 1st floor. The exterior is so hip that it catches your eye right away! I bet it's popular as a photo spot too.

What are the Halloween decor and QR ordering like inside?

The restaurant was carefully decorated with a colorful, cute Halloween concept~ The street-style, stylish interior plus the seasonal mood lifted my spirits from the moment I walked in. Best of all, you order with the QR code at each table, so it was really nice to browse the menu slowly and take my time choosing.

How to use the self-bar and drink dispenser

After ordering, you can help yourself at the self-bar on one side of the restaurant and grab whatever you need: small plates, forks, knives and so on! Once you've ordered, they bring you a drink cup, and you go to the drink dispenser and fill it with whichever soda you like. Set up the ketchup for dipping your crispy fries at the self-bar too, and you're ready to eat!

This time I went big with burger combo sets at Bored & Hungry Mapo ❤️ The moment the food came out, the savory smell and the delicious look of it made my mouth water.

Bacon Deluxe Burger combo + fries

The flavor exploded in my mouth with the first bite of the Bacon Deluxe Burger~ Between a soft, nutty brioche bun, a salty seared smash patty, melted American cheese, crispy bacon and bacon jam are layered together for a deep, meaty taste.

The mild sweetness of grilled onion and the crisp, fresh crunch of red onion, tomato and frilly iceberg lettuce cut through the richness. The special O.G sauce and a sriracha mayo with a little spicy kick wrap everything together smoothly, so the balance of juicy patty and sauce was perfect, the very model of a premium handmade burger.

Shrimp O.G Burger combo + fries

If you love seafood, you can't miss Bored & Hungry's Shrimp O.G Burger! A thick, bouncy shrimp patty fills a golden-toasted brioche bun, and the shrimp pops in your mouth with every bite. I loved the texture.

The combination of zesty, spicy sriracha sauce and myeongran mayo (seasoned pollock roe mayo) with explosive savory flavor neatly cuts the greasiness that fried food can have. With fresh frilly iceberg lettuce and sharp red onion, it's a burger whose spicy-sweet, nutty, soft flavor really lingers.

Sides: fries and Chili's Mutant Cheese Sticks

The freshly fried fries that came with the combo were crispy outside and fluffy inside, and dipped in ketchup they were addictive, impossible to stop~

The Chili's Mutant Cheese Sticks I added were in a different league from ordinary cheese sticks, with cheese that stretched and stretched, plus the flavor of a spicy, salty chili seasoning. A side that goes really well with the burgers.

Is Bored & Hungry Mapo worth going back to?

Eating handmade burgers in a hip space decked out for Halloween, looking out the window at Gyeongui Line Forest Park, was pure healing. Thanks to the convenient self-bar and above all the great burgers and sides, I plan to stop by again whenever I'm near Daeheung Station.
