I went to Ossamgak for dinner. You know how a place that was really delicious just pops into your head out of nowhere sometimes? Ossamgak is one of those places for me, so I ended up making a second visit.
The stir-fried squid and bossam (boiled pork wrap) combo was great the first time I visited, and it didn't disappoint this time either. Rather than eating just one dish, being able to enjoy spicy stir-fried squid alongside mild, savory bossam together made for a really satisfying meal.
What is the atmosphere like inside Ossamgak?
The interior of Ossamgak is clean and tidy overall, making it a comfortable place to eat.
The tables aren't cramped together, and the bright, clean vibe felt like a good fit both for a family meal and a relaxed dinner with close friends.

Best of all, once the food arrives, the table gets so full that just looking at it gets your appetite going. 😊
What we ordered — the Ossam Set Meal, 19,000 won

This time at Ossamgak, I ordered the Ossam Set Meal for 19,000 won. It's a set meal where you get smoky, spicy stir-fried squid, house-made kimchi, and garlic bossam topped with garlic sauce all together.

Seeing it all laid out on the table, from the red-sauced stir-fried squid to the appetizing pile of bossam, the colors looked great, and I liked being able to try several things at once.
🔥 Smoky, spicy stir-fried squid at Ossamgak

I tried the stir-fried squid first. Can you tell from the photos how deeply the spicy sauce has soaked into the squid and vegetables?

One bite in, the spicy-sweet sauce with a subtle smoky char really wakes up your appetite.
The squid keeps its firm, chewy texture, and with the sauce soaked in so deeply, it's the perfect match for rice.

The savory depth of the spicy sauce blends so well with the smoky char that it's delicious eaten on its own, and has a whole different charm piled on top of rice.
Since it was dinner, I naturally kept scooping stir-fried squid onto spoonfuls of rice. 😋
🥩 Garlic bossam topped with garlic sauce
And of course, you can't skip the bossam at Ossamgak! It comes cut into bite-sized pieces, topped generously with garlic sauce and sesame seeds — looks appetizing just by itself.
Put a piece of bossam with garlic sauce on top, and the mild pork gets that distinctive sharp yet nutty garlic flavor added in.
Pair that with the house-made kimchi served alongside, and it's a really great match.

Soft, mild bossam eaten together with spicy-seasoned kimchi hits exactly the right balance of flavors in your mouth. The garlic sauce especially brings out even more of the bossam's flavor, giving it a whole different taste than eating bossam plain.
🥬 Bossam wrapped with Ossamgak's house-made kimchi
My favorite way to eat bossam is definitely with kimchi.

Put a piece of bossam on a crisp lettuce leaf, add house-made kimchi and garlic sauce, and one bite delivers a rich burst of flavor.

The mildness of the bossam, the spicy-tangy kimchi, and the nutty, sharp garlic sauce all come together at once — it's a combo you keep reaching for.

And with the spicy stir-fried squid right there too, it was fun going back and forth between the bossam and the squid this time.
Being able to enjoy both mild and spicy flavors on one table is probably the biggest appeal of the Ossam Set Meal.
🍚 How the Ossam Set Meal tastes with rice

Stir-fried squid really is best eaten with rice. The spicy sauce mixes with the rice and adds even more savory depth, while the bossam, paired with kimchi and garlic sauce, gives you a whole other flavor to enjoy.

Eating just one dish the whole time can get a bit monotonous, but with the Ossam Set Meal you go stir-fried squid → bossam → kimchi → back to stir-fried squid, so it never gets old and stays delicious to the last bite.
Final thoughts — 💛 Was a second dinner at Ossamgak worth it?
This was my second visit to Ossamgak because it was that good the first time. Since I'd already had a great meal here once, I was excited even before the food arrived, and this time too I ate really well.
In particular, the spicy smoky char of the stir-fried squid, the mildness of the bossam, and the combo of house-made kimchi and garlic sauce all went together really well.
On days when you're craving something spicy, the stir-fried squid wakes up your appetite, and the mild bossam smooths it out again — it made for a really well-balanced meal.
Most of all, it was memorable enough to bring me back for a second visit, and this time was just as satisfying. I also think it's a great menu to visit with a group and share the stir-fried squid and bossam together.
If you're in the mood for a filling, delicious Korean dinner and want to enjoy spicy stir-fried squid and bossam at once, I'd recommend the Ossam Set Meal at Ossamgak.

Since I've now had two delicious visits, I'm already curious what I'll try next time. 😊
