Skewers and a jjapaghetti finish at Kuro Yakitori, a Magok izakaya

In short

Kuro Yakitori is a yakitori omakase izakaya on Magokjungang 5-ro 1-gil, near Magongnaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. Ordering the 29,000-won-per-person omakase for two brought a full sashimi spread, heart, chicken breast, thigh and neck skewers, shiitake mushrooms with grilled meat, and a final ramyeon course of tonkotsu ramyeon and jjapaghetti (black bean instant noodles). The course packs in a lot for the price, making Kuro Yakitori an easy pick for a date night in Magok.

Today my boyfriend and I went out for a yakitori omakase 🤤 Is there really a place like this in Magok?! We visited a yakitori omakase spot that nails both value and taste.

Where is Kuro Yakitori, and what are its hours?

It was cool enough that the owner had the door open — such a nice touch~~~

What comes in the 29,000-won omakase at Kuro Yakitori?

We came in already knowing about the omakase so we ordered it for two~ It's ₩29,000 per person but the spread was seriously amazing 🫢 We literally said, 'wait, this much for this price?!' 🫢

Highballs instead of sake, with cucumber to start

They had all kinds of sake too 🥺 My boyfriend and I both love sake and really wanted some, but since we had work the next day... we ordered 2 highballs instead >_<

Sparkly plate setting at Kuro Yakitori

I loved the sparkly plates too..🩵

Once you sit down, cucumber comes out first

Cucumber served first after being seated

Then the highballs arrived, and even though we ordered them plain they were so good 🤤 Coming straight from work made it taste x100 better!!

Two plain highballs that were ordered

The course opens with a full sashimi spread

And to start the course, sashimi came out...!!!!

We didn't order sashimi as a separate dish, but it came out as this full platter 🫢😳😳😳 I was shocked from the sheer amount and composition alone — and everyone, the taste is even better 🥺🥺

Sashimi platter served as part of the omakase course

I love sashimi so I always order it whenever I go to an izakaya, but Kuro Yakitori's sashimi was better quality than most izakayas I've been to 🥺

And the owner said the tuna came out a bit late so he gave us extra — the size of the tuna was massive 🫢 It's a secret that I was already excited about the sashimi quality even before the yakitori started~~🤫

Large tuna sashimi given separately by the owner

Even the pickled radish is delicious here — this is a real yakitori omakase gem~~

The yakitori skewers: from heart to chicken neck

And the first course, heart skewers, came out!!

First course: heart skewers

As always, cheers with my boyfriend~🤎 But everyone, I took one bite of the heart and juice just gushed out — I was so surprised 🫢 I'd only ever had dry, chewy heart before, so I had no idea it could be this juicy~~🥺

Second up was chicken breast 🤤

Cheers again~~ Even the chicken breast was grilled perfectly moist by the owner,,

Second course: chicken breast skewers

And here's the third course~~ this looks like chicken thigh!!!

Third course: chicken thigh skewers

Cheers number three — at this point you really think, chicken has no wasted part,,,🥺❤️

And everyone!! This one is my number one!!! This sauce has kind of a Mexican..?! vibe — not spicy but exotic-tasting, and even though I'm supposed to be dieting I finished the whole skewer 🥺

Fourth skewer topped with an exotic sauce

Cheers number four — the cheers photo is a must, ahem 👩❤️👨

And the fifth skewer, which I think is chicken neck — I couldn't believe you get this much for ₩29,000 🥺 Of course, my stomach is happy that there's so much 👉👈

Cheers number five~~ everyone, this is the last cheers~~ hehe

Fifth course: chicken neck skewers

Then came a dish of minced meat stuffed inside shiitake mushroom! This is super tasty on its own, but even more delicious with a little dab of sauce 🤤

The last course: tonkotsu ramyeon or jjapaghetti

And the final course was even ramyeon!! We kept saying this omakase course was so generous ㅜㅜ I picked tonkotsu ramyeon and my boyfriend picked jjapaghetti (Korean-style black bean noodles), so

Tonkotsu ramyeon and jjapaghetti chosen for the final course

We left completely stuffed all the way to the very end 🤤🤤🤤

Final spread of the Kuro Yakitori omakase course

For ₩29,000 per person, this yakitori omakase course was seriously generous 🤤 I highly recommend Kuro Yakitori in Magok 🩷
