Balsan Station outdoor patio bar for chimaek: Daily Beer Balsan
In short
Daily Beer (Saenghwal Maekju) Balsan Station Branch is a beer pub with a long row of outdoor tables (yajang) in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, about 3 minutes from Balsan Station Exit 2. Visiting for a second round after lamb skewers with former coworkers, the writer ordered the Angry Bird half fried, half red chicken with beer and watched a patio that was empty at 7pm fill up to almost every seat by 8pm. Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch works well as a second-round chicken-and-beer spot on a cool evening.

It had been a while since I saw some old coworkers, and after a first round of lamb skewers we didn't want to just call it a night, so we went looking for a second spot! There was an outdoor patio (yajang) all set up at the nearby Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch, so we went straight in. The evenings have gotten cooler lately, so we grabbed a seat outside for chicken and beer :)

Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch is about a 3-minute walk from Balsan Station Exit 2. When we arrived around 7pm, there wasn't a single other customer on the patio — at first it felt like we'd rented the whole place out haha.
What are the outdoor patio (yajang) tables like?

But wow, the crowd really picked up. Seats started filling one by one, and by around 8pm the patio was almost full. The weather was cool too, perfect for drinking beer outside these days. Once the lights came on after sunset, the patio vibe really kicked in.
A look at the indoor seats at Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch

I was curious about the indoor seats too, so I stepped in for a look — the inside had red lighting and beer posters lined up along the walls. It had a different feel from the patio, very much a proper beer-bar atmosphere. Actually, that red lighting felt like it belonged at a street food tent, so even sitting inside felt like being outdoors.
Menu lineup and what we ordered for the second round

Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch had quite a variety of snacks besides chicken, including tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fries. There was everything from light bites to shareable dishes for a group, making it a good spot for a second round. Since we'd already eaten skewers, we ordered one Angry Bird half fried, half red chicken.
Free popcorn snack, with refills at 5,000 won

After ordering, popcorn comes out as the basic snack. It doesn't seem like much, but it's surprisingly good and I kept reaching for more. Salty enough to be a perfect beer snack. If you want more, you can order extra — ₩5,000 for additional popcorn, and there were quite a few flavors. I added a wasabi one for myself :)
Angry Bird half-and-half chicken: taste and spice level

After a short wait, our Angry Bird half fried, half red chicken arrived. The fried half was crispy, and the red half was coated in a spicy sauce. Parsley flakes and sesame seeds were sprinkled on top, looking delicious enough that I wanted to dig in right away.

We plated it up right away. I like fried chicken too, but I tend to get a little tired of it after a while, so I was glad we went half-and-half. Eating a piece of fried, then a piece of red, then a sip of beer, kept me going even when I was already full. The red is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, so heads up if you're sensitive to spice!
Free fries for a Naver receipt review

There was also a Naver receipt review event on the table. If you participate, you get 150g of fries for free, and you can join in even before paying — worth keeping in mind if you visit :)
Is Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch worth a visit?
A patio bar we hit up for a second round with coworkers we hadn't seen in a while — Daily Beer Balsan Station Branch. The patio that had only us at first was nearly full within an hour, and we got to enjoy our second round properly too, sitting outside in the cool weather with chicken and beer.
