In short
Daldal Gogi is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant near Dandae Ogeori Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, grilling Jeju aged fresh pork over charcoal. The writer and a friend ordered 3 portions of ogyeopsal (skin-on pork belly), which the owner grilled at the table, ate it with meljeot (salted anchovy sauce), aged kimchi and shredded scallion salad, and finished with mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth). What is Daldal Gogi, the charcoal BBQ restaurant in Dandae Ogeori, Seongnam?
Daldal Gogi (달달고기) is a pork belly restaurant near Dandae Ogeori Station in Seongnam, where the owner grills the meat for you and corkage is free. I want to come back with a nice bottle of wine next time. The meat quality is seriously good, and finishing with cold noodles made the whole combo just perfect.

You even get ssam vegetables and myeongi namul (wild garlic-chive pickles), so this Seongnam BBQ spot lets you build a really good wrap.
Where is Daldal Gogi?

Daldal Gogi is 260m from Exit 7 of Dandae Ogeori Station. The signboard uses a cute font, but don't be fooled: this place sticks to Jeju aged raw pork only, and everything I ate was delicious.
Is there parking at Daldal Gogi?

After 6 pm, you can park in front of Daldal Gogi. After 6 pm you can also use the hand car wash next door, so keep that in mind! The owner says that if you call before visiting, he'll explain in more detail.
Inside Daldal Gogi: interior and atmosphere

The inside of Daldal Gogi is fairly spacious. Even on a weekday there were lots of group gatherings, so it seems like a local favorite. I visited with a friend who lives nearby, and she said it was a place someone had recommended to her, so she'd already starred it on Naver Map.
Daldal Gogi menu: ordering ogyeopsal for 3

Daldal Gogi also has hanpan and daepan platters that let you try a variety of cuts, but we were craving pork belly, so we ordered it for 3.

Each portion of pork belly is about 180g, and it came topped with a cute cherry tomato decoration.

The side dishes were set out right away too. Salad, pa-chae (shredded scallion salad) and myeongi namul all go well with meat, so I kept reaching for them.

The charcoal hadn't even arrived yet, but in this summer heat, beer comes first, right?
How does charcoal-grilled Jeju aged pork belly taste?

The charcoal fire at Daldal Gogi is strong, so the pork belly cooks quickly.

Mushrooms and peppers come out too, so you can grill them together. The dip on the side is meljeot (salted anchovy sauce). Since they serve Jeju raw pork, you get to have it with meljeot as well!

The owner grills the meat and cuts it into tasty bite-sized pieces, which made the pork belly taste even better.

They even give you a little wire rack to put the cooked meat on, so it stays nice and hot even as time passes.
Best ways to eat the pork belly: meljeot, aged kimchi and scallion salad

The first piece goes with just a little salt. The meat quality is already so good that it can't possibly taste bad,

and since they also serve aged kimchi, try it on top with a little mustard. The texture of the aged kimchi mixes with the slightly sharp whole-grain mustard.

And the combo with pa-chae? Need I even say it? So good!

The mushrooms grilled over charcoal alongside the pork belly are full of juice, too,

and the pork belly dipped in meljeot was so satisfying that I thought: no need to hop on a plane to Jeju, right?
Finishing the BBQ with cold noodles

If you're at a BBQ place, of course you finish with cold noodles as a mouth freshener! Daldal Gogi's naengmyeon (cold noodles) comes with floating ice flakes, topped with cucumber and half a boiled egg.

Of course, I didn't miss the virtue of eating the leftover pork belly together with it.

Is corkage free at Daldal Gogi?
Daldal Gogi runs with free corkage. I only found out after we finished eating, so next time I'll visit Daldal Gogi in Dandae Ogeori again with some good drinks.
