Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a raw-meat Korean BBQ restaurant in the Haengdang Market alley near Wangsimni. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ I was walking through the alley near Wangsimni's Haengdang Market when the smell of meat pulled me right in — and that's how I found Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom! This is genuinely a place meat lovers have to visit, and I wanted to spread the word (๑˘ꇴ˘๑)

Meat-aging fridge, street-style seating and old-school charm

On top of that, Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom even has its own aging chamber! And best of all, there's seating that feels like outdoor tables, which was totally my taste since I love that old-school (nopo) charm! Sitting in that outdoor-style seating on a breezy day, grilling meat — I felt like the soju would go down way too easily (๑˙ꄃ˙๑)♡⃛

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom meat prices and what we ordered

At Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom we went all in and ordered pork belly (2 servings), pork neck (1 serving), and gabrisal (1 serving) to try them all!

Everything is priced at ₩20,000 for 180g, and once I saw the meat quality up close, it clearly wasn't a cent wasted! The moment the raw meat arrived on the plate, that glossy freshness made it obvious this was genuine raw meat!

Plate of thick-cut, bright red raw pork

It came sliced thick, with a bright red color, so my expectations shot up even before it hit the grill!

Do you get free stew, janchi-guksu and nurungji with your meat?

The biggest perk of Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is definitely the service system! Order meat per person and you get stew, janchi-guksu (noodle soup), and even hot nurungji (scorched rice) included (๑˙ꄃ˙๑)♡⃛

Complimentary stew and side dishes served with a meat order

Usually at other BBQ places you have to order side dishes separately, which adds up fast, but here the service was seriously generous! The bubbling doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) had such a savory flavor, perfect to have alongside the meat!

The janchi-guksu also had a clean broth — an absolute treat in its own right!

Side dishes and lettuce for wraps

The basic side dishes at Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom were seriously generous, filling up the whole table! The kimchi, scallion salad, and lettuce wraps were all fresh, super satisfying, and paired perfectly when grilled together with the meat!

How the owner-grilled pork belly, neck and gabrisal taste

At Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom, the owner grills the meat for you, so all I had to do was relax and chat while eating — so convenient! With that expert touch, the meat came out golden brown while locking in the juices, and the tenderness was on a whole different level! The pork belly had the perfect ratio of savory fat to lean meat, so every bite released rich, savory juices across my mouth!

The pork neck wasn't dry at all and stayed tender, a flavor that could win over even people who normally don't like pork neck! The gabrisal had that signature chewy texture combined with tender meat, giving an almost melt-in-your-mouth experience!

Why you should add the ₩1,000 soy sauce egg rice

There's a must-try side dish at Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom — the soy sauce rice, priced at an incredibly cheap ₩1,000!

The menu just says soy sauce rice, but what actually arrives is a beautiful, savory soy sauce egg rice — such a nice surprise (๑˘ꇴ˘๑)

Pop the yolk, mix it into the soy sauce, and take a bite — it's genuinely salty and savory in the best way, the kind of thing that makes you just say wow!
