Yangyang BBQ lunch: pot rice, nurungji and a voucher win at Yeoyejeong

What kind of BBQ restaurant is Yeoyejeong in Yangyang?

Yeoyejeong (여여정) is a fresh meat specialist at 49 Ssangsolbaegi-gil, Seomyeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon, famous for its salt-aged fresh meat. It is open 11:30–21:00 and closed every Tuesday.

A high-quality BBQ place with real pride, a lunch special with pot rice that's totally worth it, a Yangyang favorite where nothing is bad

I stopped by this Yangyang favorite during a Gangwon trip, Yeoyejeong, a fresh meat specialist that is seriously proud of its meat!! I heard the lunch special was generous too, so I came for the lunch special!

What about parking and pickup at Yeoyejeong?

Yeoyejeong feels like a quiet mountain lodge, and it has a really, really big parking lot in front! It's so big that even tour buses wouldn't be a problem!

Another good thing: Yeoyejeong has its own pickup service~ It's probably not available for long distances, but it's perfect if you're visiting Yangyang and want a drink with your meal!

Is the inside of Yeoyejeong good for families and groups?

The inside of Yeoyejeong is spacious~ There are private rooms too, so it would work well for groups or families. Baby chairs are available as well~

I wondered why there were coloring supplies in one corner, and then I saw that one wall displays drawings made by little children's tiny hands! Another piece of the interior decor!!

Review draw event

Yeoyejeong has a review event where you can do a prize draw, or pick a gift from the items on display. The temptation of a prize draw is hard to resist, right? haha

Gift sets and white kimchi for sale

Yeoyejeong's classy gift sets are available all year round~ The salt-aged meat is deli-cious, no misses!! With the Chuseok holiday (Korean harvest festival) coming up, the sets looked like a great gift, so I asked, and I was told the holiday selection can differ slightly, so it's best to call the restaurant to check before ordering~!! They also sell baek kimchi (white kimchi) carefully made with domestic ingredients~

What is on the Yeoyejeong lunch special menu?

The Yeoyejeong lunch specials are meat pot rice (+ pot rice), meat cold noodles, kimchi stew (+ pot rice) and galbitang (beef short rib soup, + pot rice). I loved that pot rice comes with them! Pot rice, yay!! haha

The meat menu has marinated galbi (short ribs), fresh galbi, pork jowl, pork belly, pork tail, flower galbi meat and chuck flap~ Pork tail!!! I really wanted to try it... but we had plans, so I was sad to have settled for the lunch special T_T

Side dishes include white kimchi noodles, janchi guksu (banquet noodles), Yeojeong cold noodles, steamed egg bomb, kimchi stew and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)!

The basic side dishes at Yeoyejeong are seasoned cucumber, seasoned gondre(?) greens, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and white kimchi!

Since you get pot rice instead of plain steamed rice, it looks even more filling and generous~

Meat pot rice ₩13,000

I thought the meat pot rice would have meat inside the rice, but it's actually grilled marinated galbi served with soup~ You get sweet-salty marinated galbi, seasoned chives, pot rice and bean sprout soup. I tried a piece of meat and it was tender~

The seasoned chives served alongside were so good that they made the meat taste even better!

Galbitang ₩15,000

The galbitang at Yeoyejeong comes with quite a few rib bones~

You have to pick these up and gnaw on them haha The meat is tender too, and Ppangttongi (my companion's nickname) gave it a thumbs up~

Kimchi stew ₩13,000

The kimchi stew at Yeoyejeong has creamy white tofu in it, which I love! There's tons of kimchi and meat too!! The meat is on the bone, so it tastes even better haha

Big chunks of meat, kimchi and soft tofu, the perfect trio! Mixing it into the rice is the golden rule, of course.

Steamed egg bomb ₩5,000

Steamed egg bomb, you know it's the perfect partner for kimchi stew, right? Fluffy and soft~

How are the pot rice and nurungji at Yeoyejeong?

I guess Yeoyejeong uses really good rice haha The rice is so delicious T_T

I scraped it all out, poured in hot water, and told it, wait for me!!! Nicely crisped nurungji (scorched rice)... it's amazing...!!! Topping it with the kimchi stew was yummy! There was also a salty, jeotgal-like (salted seafood) side that seemed to go even better with the nurungji.

What did the Yeoyejeong review draw give us?
