Ansan pork BBQ with pork skirt and bibim naengmyeon: Gogit-ri 88
In short
Gogit-ri 88beonji Ansan Gojan Branch is a Korean pork BBQ restaurant in the Gojan-dong food alley of Ansan, Gyeonggi, serving meat pre-grilled over charcoal briquettes. Two diners shared the Gogit-ri Assorted Set A (600g, ₩45,000) of pork belly, pork neck and pork skirt (gabrisal), adding rice and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and the pork skirt and thick-cut pork belly were the standouts. There was no wait for a table, and Gogit-ri 88beonji is a place well worth a return visit.

Today I went for Korean BBQ in Gojan-dong, Ansan with my wife(-to-be)! This time we visited Gogit-ri 88beonji Ansan Gojan Branch, known for its briquette-pre-grilled meat.

Location and parking for Gogit-ri 88beonji Ansan Gojan Branch
Gogit-ri 88beonji Ansan Gojan Branch is located at 1F 101, 193-15 Gwangdeok2-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's in the Gojan-dong restaurant alley, easy to reach from Ansan Jungang Station, so it's also a great spot to head to for a second round nearby after dinner.
The sign is big and easy to spot from outside, so it's not hard to find even on your first visit! There are outdoor tables too, and eating meat outside seemed like it'd have great atmosphere when the weather's cool. The indoor space is fairly spacious as well, so it's worth considering if you're looking for a Gojan-dong spot for a group dinner or work gathering.

How do you grill briquette-pre-grilled meat?
Walking in, you see a big menu board on the wall. The standout thing about Gogit-ri 88beonji is that the meat doesn't come out raw from the start — it's pre-grilled once over a briquette fire before serving. They said this high-heat briquette pre-grilling gives it that smoky flavor before it reaches your table. So instead of grilling for a long time from scratch, you just finish off the pre-grilled meat on the pan to eating temperature.

Inside the Gogit-ri Assorted Set A 600g, ₩45,000
What we ordered was the Gogit-ri Assorted Set A 600g for ₩45,000! It's a combo where you can try pork belly, pork neck, and pork skirt (gabrisal) all at once. Sticking to one cut is nice too, but on a first visit trying several cuts like this seems like the best move haha.

On the grill, along with the meat came green onions and a chunky king oyster mushroom. The king oyster mushroom even had the Gogit-ri 88beonji logo stamped on it, so I ended up taking an extra photo haha.

Basic side dishes matched to the meat
The basic side dishes to go with the meat were kimchi, shredded green onion, perilla leaves, pickled radish, and pickled onion. Sometimes too many side dishes at a BBQ place go untouched, but here they felt neatly chosen around what actually pairs well with the meat. The shredded green onion especially was nice to have in between bites of the fatty pork belly.

Six dipping sauces, start with the salt
What I also liked here was just how many dipping options there were. On the table were galchi-sokjeot (fermented hairtail innards), Maldon salt from the British royal family, Gangwon-do doenjang paste, myeongnanjeot (salted pollack roe), wasabi, and Jeju-style myeoljeot (salted anchovy) — that many varieties of sauce. The restaurant itself recommends starting with the Maldon salt first, then moving on to other sauces based on preference.

If you're like me and like to taste the meat itself first, I'd recommend dipping the first bite lightly in just the salt. After that, alternating between wasabi, myeongnanjeot, and so on means you never get tired of it.

How did the pork skirt, neck, and belly taste?
Of everything we ate, the pork skirt (gabrisal) stood out the most! The surface was grilled golden while the inside stayed moist without being dry. The more you chewed, the more savory it got — I personally really loved it.

With the pork neck, dabbing on a bit of wasabi kept the savoriness while cutting through the fattiness cleanly — a really great pairing. If you like wasabi, definitely try this combo 👍

And then, of course, the pork belly!! As you can tell just from the photo, it was quite thick. Finishing the pre-grilled belly on the pan gave the surface a slight smoky char while the inside kept its juices. With just the right mix of fat and lean meat, you got a burst of savoriness with every bite. Personally, the pork skirt and pork belly were the most memorable cuts of this visit!

The meat was good enough on its own that you didn't really need a strong sauce. A light dab of Maldon salt let you taste the meat's own savoriness and smoky flavor straight through. The salt wasn't too sharp either, so I kept reaching for more haha.

Put a generous dab of wasabi on the thick meat and eat it with rice... you just can't resist that haha. The wasabi cleanly cut through the fattiness, and I was glad we ordered the rice 🤍

Finishing with bibim naengmyeon, broth served on the side
After eating plenty of meat, we also ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). Naengmyeon after meat is basically a set course haha. The bibim naengmyeon came topped with cucumber, radish, and boiled egg, with a generous amount of sauce mixed in. True to form, a cool broth came served separately alongside the noodles. So you could sip the broth in between bites of the noodles, or pour a little in to make it more moist, depending on your taste.
Personally I think naengmyeon tastes best eaten together with meat. Putting a piece of the thick pork belly on top of the spicy-tangy bibim naengmyeon cleared out the fattiness completely, and then somehow made you want more meat again haha. We said we were full, but ended up eating until the very end.
Waiting and group dinner suitability
Luckily, we were seated right away without any wait when we visited. The Gojan-dong restaurant alley tends to get pretty crowded in the evening, so being able to sit down without waiting made the meal even more comfortable. The restaurant is fairly spacious too, so if you're near Ansan Jungang Station looking for a place to have BBQ with a group, this seems like a solid candidate for a Gojan-dong restaurant or a group dinner spot.
🤍Review🤍 A place where the pre-grilled pork belly and pork skirt stuck with me
What impressed me most about Gogit-ri 88beonji Ansan Gojan Branch was being able to eat thick meat that's pre-grilled over briquette from the start. The Gogit-ri Assorted Set A, letting you try pork belly, pork neck, and pork skirt all at once, was also a great choice for a first visit. In particular, pork skirt and pork belly were the tastiest for me! It was nice being able to eat it with just a bit of salt, and having wasabi, myeongnanjeot, myeoljeot, and other sauces meant you could enjoy one cut of meat in several different ways.
The bibim naengmyeon we finished with also came with a cool broth on the side, and eating it together with the meat made it a great closing dish. We got seated without any wait, and overall the meat was satisfying, so we'd very much visit again!! 🥩🤍 I'd recommend this place if you're near Ansan Jungang Station looking for thick pre-grilled pork belly, or a Gojan-dong spot for a group dinner, date, or evening meal.
